50/50 whether his value tanks next year with no clear spot in the 22 for him. If he requests a trade next year and we get boned im done with Sam power. We CANNOT have this situation again with a first rounder, and one that we paid so much for.

Id be asking Sanders for a commitment now, not long term but at least a year or 2 extension. Otherwise see what we can get for him this year.

its a very delicate situation but we’ve been on the wrong end of these ones for a few years now, if we **** this one up, again, Power is done in my books.
I don't think the club can rush Sanders and his management into signing a contract extension that may not have been presented too him yet.
Just deal with Adelaide and say, unless you are prepared to make a massive offer we will reject it and wait to hear from Ryley's management.
Trying to bully someone into a contract extension isn't the way things are done now and I'm not suggesting that is what you're saying.
Have a respectful conversation by all means.
"Ryley, Adelaide is again asking us to consider a trade for you, have you or your management been in contact with them to the point where they believe you want to move?"
That would be enough to get the conversation started if they haven't already been happening.

I'd say the club is well aware of Ryley's position and are working on getting a contract extension. They won't make that public knowledge though.

Can I ask why you're so critical of people at the club to the point where you appear to want senior people sacked?

He is an athlete first, second, third and fourth. To be an intercept defender you need to be able to read the play which he struggles to do.
More of an In Bruges guy?

Right well that's not great news. Love to know what made the Saints bail.

Although to be fair to Johno he was trying to work out how the club could get Butters , saying 15 plus our 10 might be a starting point in negotiations .
Honestly if Butters was in play and Sanders was the sacrificial lamb then you would give Sanders up every day of the week would't you ?.
Brad Johnson plays the role of grinning fool who says things in the media that don't really ever help the Bulldogs really well. As well intended as he may be he gets set up time and again.

What does pick 15 turn into a draft day this year after all of the different concessional picks?
            TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

If he has a middling year next year we will probably get a pick in the 20s worst case should he choose to leave.

The only upside to moving him now would be to substitute in as a "first rounder" in a trade to get Butters.
In what world are we getting a pick in the teens at best this year? We’d be able to pull Butts & a first rounder out of Adelaide at a minimum

It’s not a matter of pressuring him but this is a business, we’re all grown ups. Are you committing medium term? No okay well we’re open to you moving this year, Yes? Great let’s work on the terms.

Because we’ve underperformed for 8 of the last 9 years, including massively for the last 4 - wasting the prime years of the best player we’ve ever had. What have they done for a free pass from criticism exactly? Every single person involved in the off field side of our club should be feeling some pressure right now to perform, most of all Bevo & Power.

I like Power a lot but we’ve lost multiple first round draft picks and not been compensated for them, whilst not really landing a single one of our major targets yet. Yes it’s not all on him and there’s been outside factors to this, but results are results at the end of the day. Failing to manage the Sanders situation in the same way would be the last straw for mine especially as he’s already on the hook for overpaying, not saying we will but IF we do…

It's always a concern when a second AFL team is happy to see the back of you.
                  I'd be very wary.

From the sounds of things he has had a year that is not too different JUH, minus the media attention.

In media world no thanks for the grinning idiot Brad Johnson, and possibly publicly.

If talking down Stringer and saying we want him out could apparently lower his value publicly and at the trade table (when everyone knew how poisonous he was already), then what does the talk of Sanders being available for pick fifteen which will turn into late teens do to his value?

I don't buy into it too much because clubs have what they have to offer, and can and can't do what they can and can't do.......but Sanders for pick fifteen is actually out there like it or not and the grinning idiot started it. And it's insulting.

Sanders is of higher value now than he was when he was drafted, objectively, because he's actually shown he can play at a high level. Speculatively, apparently a pick of six or better is of higher value than him.

Drafting and trading is insane to me and I don't think the industry is laden with intelligent or rational people.

You have made some different suggestions over the years but I think this is the most succinct point you have ever made.

Cal Twomey reporting we have agreed a pick swap with GWS - our pick 12 for their 14 and 37 (latter pick to be used on Budarick)

Do we really need to spend 37 for Budarick? Is he still under contract or something?

Edit just realised we only have 2 picks this year? How do we intend to get Darcy?

Loved Johnno as a player, but as part of Fox Footy and SEN he is one of their many list cloggers. Both organisations need a full rebiild.

This is a really good deal for us.
I suspect GWS are moving around so that they can bring in Clayton Oliver and for us it maintains a 1st and 2nd rounder while bringing in Budarick for next to nothing.
