Because he has said that...just not 'officially'.

    My projection is:

Chad: 'Well, if that's what you think, why don't you just trade me?'
Port: 'Trade? To who? Mate, there's no-one who will pay you the sort of $ we give you. No One'.
Chad: 'I bet there is - there would be a heap of clubs who want me'.
Port: 'Go and find one then. You'll come back with your tail between your legs just like Hammer did 12-months ago. You don't know how good you've got it'.
    Chad: 'Maybe I will'.
    Port: 'Go on then'.

    ...

And that's how we find ourselves here today.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I suspect every single player that moves during trade week has been having conversations for weeks if not months.

It's diplomacy - 98% of the action happens behind closed doors.

He hasn’t said it publicly. Doesn’t mean he hasn’t told both Port and us privately, which I guess would mean not alienating the Port fans should it not work out.

Only slightly less risky than “I truly believe Chad Wingard will be playing AFL footy next year.”

A caller just rang up trade radio and said he heard a strong rumour so take it with a grain of salt.

Dogs trade pick 7 to PA and first round next year and PA trade Chad and Pick 10 this year to the Dogs.

                Thoughts on the trade value?

We would in no way be talking picks publicily if he hasn't told us he's keen. Whether the future first rounder option came out of the club or not remains to be seen. Chris Davies on trade radio saying they've heard nothing compelling re. a trade for Wingard. So they've listened to offers?
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Had to be prompted to say that they didn't want to loose Chad unlike Polec. PA are keen as to get rid of him its all up to the Chad himself.

Yes I'd do that. We still get a pick this year ahead of any likely West bid. Pick up a slider - Hill as a small forward that can eventually pinch hit in the middle?

Mark Stevens responding to Trade Radio when the question was asked if Pick 7 gets Wingard

                        "Yes it does"

                        Interesting he would chime in

Sounds a decent deal to be honest, need to give it some more thought though

I noticed that, very diplomatic. Wonder what the hold up is with Chad. No real rush I know but not sure what another 48 hours is going to achieve when he's had at least a few weeks to consider our offer. That is of course unless his manager has suggested waiting for an 11th hour bid from Norf.

So for us, the question becomes do we make finals next year? If so, do the deal. If not, i say pick 7 straight up. I'm leaning towards the latter.

If we get Wingard, and keep players on the park (for once) next year - then I think we play finals.
