I can't blame the club for expressing interest, it needed to happen
Why did it need to happen, at least publicly.
Surely we can trot out we're interested in lots of players who might add value to our club and we'll pursue all negotiations with clubs and player nanagers and not the media'.

I feel the same way. Whether Wingard was the player we needed or not the fact that we are not a ‘desirable’ destination really irks me. This is something that we need to change. The fact that we were not able to follow up our flag win with finals football really has put us back a bit (in terms of attracting quality). We need to really nail the draft and continue to focus on locking away our high end talent.

what a steaming big pile of "Meh"

Yeah he wants to go to the hawks, so what? What if they were offering an extra 200k per year? or 2 extra years? its not a reflection upon us, its called Business......

Whilst i would have loved to have Chad at the club, i think he is a great player and worthy of pick 7, maybe even as low as pick 5. The fact remains we have not "lost out" we are in a great position with a very good draft pick, were going to get a great FS and a great academy pick, and if we manage to lose Adams, probably another good pick in the mix too.

Our trading has been very good, Crozier and Trengove both really blossomed at the end of the year and id expect that to continue.

              Chin up folks!

I don’t have much of an issue with the comments (Sam) Power made - I’m staggered we released an official statement via the website following them.

I'm not unhappy about this, focus on bringing in 3 talented players and a couple from the state leagues and we can strengthen our playing list

Did Hurley re-sign with Essendon before 2016 season close?

Agree with the sentiment raised nevertheless - might’ve been a bullet dodged, but Deledio turning us down post flag another example

Trade week has become a pivotal period in list management.i know we like to dismiss it, but we really need to step up to the plate or we will be left behind. Previously I would've been as dismissive as others on here, now not. Clubs grow significantly during this period and we seem to have never utilised or grown as a result. I'm usually on the fence, but our player management since 2016 has me worried.

Hamling played a great finals series and I admit I would've liked him to stay. But prior to that he was a fringe player himself along with Stevens and Hrovat.

Fringe players always look elsewhere for better opportunity. I wouldn't read too much into that.

                          Hurley was disappointing though.

The hysteria on here is quite extraordinary.
I just love how inflated opinion of players become in the trade period .
Naughton will be a star as will Richards and funnily enough they were drafted in the first round .
Hurley turned us down during 2016 and we somehow won the flag !
Some of these so called “ destination clubs” are treading water just topping up .

Sounds like Hawthorn offering up Burton and pick 15.

So explain how Geelong have gone with Dangerfield ? Continuing to top up and tread water . Hawthorn have lost their last 4 finals and does anyone think they’ve got great young talent ? Richmond won their flag on the back of their superstars , whom funnily enough they drafted with early picks .
