Like Robertson to Freo. Lobb to us & North’s 4th to us.

If we rate Lobb as a 2nd & 3rd rounder.

    That’s Dunkley effectively for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Rounder.

Something like that? It gives Freo a cover story for changing their tune. Local kid too good to refuse in a trade…

Lobb is worth only one draft pick, not two.

You are playing the game wrong!

Also where’s the first round pick coming from?

Re: Early Trade Rumours for 2022

Does anyone else feel that there is something really off bordering on a conspiracy with Dunkley's desire to move to the Lions?

Everyone in the football world knew that the Lions needed sufficient points for two father-son pics. Dunkley and his manager also knew this when they chose this club to seek a trade to.

If you look at the comparable trade the Tigers did to get Taranto, there was never going to be an opportunity for the Lions to offer a reasonable, fair trade with the Dogs.

With Dunkley and Gunston, you would think that internally the Lions would hope to reach the grand final in 2023, which means their 2023 first round draft pick would be around the 17 or 18 mark, which is really a second rounder.

Given the father-son picks and the points in draft picks required to to secure them, how did the Lions and Dunkley and his manager ever think that they would be able to offer a fair trade to the Dogs?

If we can't get a fair trade and I can't see how we can, then I say we let Dunkley be picked up by North Melbourne in the PSD.

        **** the lot of them.

          Brisbane: In: Dunkley, Pick 69
          Freo: In: Robertson
Dogs: In: Future 1st, Future 4th (tied to North), Lobb

          Brisbane: Out: Robertson, Future First
Freo: Out: Lobb, Future 4th (tied to North)
          Dogs: Dunkley, Pick 69

Brisbane: Trade out a surplus mid at prime dollars who may want to go back at some stage
Freo: Add in Jackson & Robertson, top local kids to their midfield
Dogs: Get Lobb, Future First & Fourth (tied to North) in a strong draft

So, Robertson if the effective virtually first Round Draftee added to the Future First to tick the boxes of two firsts. Robertson goes off to Freo, while Freo flick on Lobb and the 4th.

So, 1st & 4th picks in our pockets. Rumours were Lobb if traded would be a second and third rounder to get him. Which we haven’t handed over. So in theory, Dunkley gets us a 1st & 4th, and 2nd & 3rd not paid to Freo.

          Edit:

To Date Out: Dunkley, Cordy (likely Hunter, Martin plus 1 or 2 more)
          In: Lobb & Jones

          2022: 15, 30 & 39 (& Hunter pick/player swap)
          2023: 1st x 2, 2nd, 3rd, 4th x 2

It really was the worst club he could've chosen.

The longer this goes on the more I believe we are just going to have to accept the future first and maybe a second this year with a third going back.
We can't afford for him to go for nothing. Worst case we get 2 x seconds.

I really wish players weren't able to nominate a club, a few clubs that's ok like if he said Port, Lions, Freo for eg.

Channel 7 reported tonight there are clubs interested in getting Toby Greene out of Giants. Could he be the missing link!?!

I couldn’t even fake cheering him. Gun. Dickhead of epic proportions.

Isn’t there another whole week of trade period? Lions also have players as currency and they don’t just have to trade with us. Obviously we’d all love it done and dusted and us with an awesome win at the trade table… but it’ll get done late and what we get will be good enough. Won’t be amazing but it’ll work.

We won’t be sending him to the PSD and we won’t be getting ripped off by the Lions. This isn’t Carlton/Nick Stevens.

Seems like pick 15 was never in the equation. I feel it was always future first plus whatever baked beans they can throw in. It will be a long way away from what Richmond paid for Taranto.
I will never see #16 the same!!

Yep - I'm confident a deal will be done, but it's fun to speculate.

It'll be interesting to hear what our position is over the weekend (assuming that this lingers into next week).

My concern is we won't get a deal like GWS did for Tarranto and I think anything less than that is unacceptable. Pick 15 and onwards is pretty speculative for a known elite quality - you really need a pick close to the top 10 to pull the trigger (as GWS did).

I think Brisbane will try and get in on our Lobb interest, but I feel keeping the deals separate would be better business for us. Over paying for Lobb and getting unders for Dunkley would be a bit of a disaster.

If I was Sam Mr Mahatma I'd just play this down the phone every time the Lions call.

There is however I think it's reasonable to look at what the Lions have and forecast it's going to be a long way from what we'd want.

The Jackson deal might get some others moving.
