Silver linings; it?s a chance for us to get back into the draft.

He?s a depth player for us, nothing more.

If Tim leaves, that?s a different story.

It's actually a good position for us to be in. If Tim goes, Lobb stays end of discussion. If Tim stays, Lobb is under contract for 2 more years and we can either force him to remain or let him go for adequate compensation. Worst case we get back close enough to what we outlaid for him in the first place, and get ourselves back into the 2024 national draft in a more meaningful capacity.

We made a mistake targeting a player who was essentially English-lite, and we also underestimated the speed in which Darcy would develop. It was an understandable trade at the time, and it still might pay dividends in 2024 (and beyond if Tim exercises his FA)

While I agree it's not a bad position to be in does it swing around the other way if English stays?
From all reports Lobb's not of significant money compared to many others so club's won't be put off by it but will they really be prepared to make a compelling offer for us? If we were to get a decent 2nd round pick then perhaps everyone wins in that scenario

While I agree it's not a bad position to be in does it swing around the other way if English stays?
From all reports Lobb's not of significant money compared to many others so club's won't be put off by it but will they really be prepared to make a compelling offer for us? If we were to get a decent 2nd round pick then perhaps everyone wins in that scenario

I think we could find that easily. Melbourne need a forward and a back-up to Gawn. Saints the same with Marshall and perhaps Collingwood might be interested as well.

The more the merrier unlike the Stringer where we had only one team offer and they knew we wanted him out.

If his whole contract is off the books we should be able to 'up' our offers to Baz, Darcy, Buss, etc.

As if it matters to us. He'll just pick one and we'll have to deal exclusively with them.

Problem is it won’t happen in time for us to offer them more, they would have already made up their mind or gone.

I read in the HUN today that we are confident of signing Buss and that he's happy in Melbourne living with Sam Darcy.
