He continued with the "taking responsibility" thread when pushed about Essendon. He takes part responsibility for involving Dank, but the AFL and ASADA is at fault for what the players were injected with not the management or players of Essendon.

FFS Bomber ... it is your fault. It is James Hird's fault. It is David Evans fault. It is Paul Little's fault. It is the 34's fault.

Man up ... stop being a douche !!
I find Mark Thompson to be inconsistent and generally incoherent with what he endeavours to communicate and I'm baffled by how Geelong reached the heights that they did under his direction.

PS don't worry about going to Woolworths, Dan Murphy or BWS if your a drinker because the stores are closing due to being empty
Good luck with the outcome Ledge and not just because I will run out of grog.

He's likely to have been operating under stricter discipline at the time.

It doesn't take a lot for a genius to come across as a bit of a bumbler if they're off the boil a little. Take it back a few years and he was an extremely engaging person.

Essendons lowest scoring season since 1921.

Got to be everyone's fault who isn't coaching the team.

Exactly what I have thought. He certainly is an odd ball.

He seems to be following the same incoherent approach Sheedy did.

That was probably his grandfather's fault..

Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players

I think there is a lot to like about Bomber Thompson. He must have been under enormous stress due to the conflict of his Essendon and media commitments on afl360. In fact I think his segment during 2013 & 2014 was the shows weekly highlight. His change in demeanour between the early days and now is, I believe, symptomatic of the damage that this saga has inflicted on a number of good people.

Whilst I don't condone the EFC "supplements" program I have to acknowledge that, whatever WADA come up with, the personal price paid by many of those involved has been enormous. I am not a fan of James Hird, but you really have to admire his resilience and self belief; not withstanding that many see this as delusional.

When will the playing group realise that it is solely their club, with their mismanagement, who put them in this position.

If the club had monitored the program correctly and kept records (that one would have expected in a program of that type), then the whole matter could have been correctly adjudicated in a matter of weeks. Innocence or otherwise would have been an easy call.
Of course they kept records. Where are those records now? Well, THAT'S the mystery. My bet is they've added to Essendon's carbon footprint.

On the basis of the key finding - to wit: the AFL could not be comfortably satisfied that Thymosin Beta4 was not administered - that seems incredibly harsh. A life ban for poor record keeping. But let's not be coy here. If it looks dodgy, if it smells dodgy, if it involves dodgy characters and if the m o of the operation is dodgy then it's probably dodgy. This has been an absolute disaster for the game. The AFL were asleep at the wheel on this one. Remember it was as long ago as 1996 that Adelaide were reported to be using creatine. That should have alerted the AFL that oversight of supplements programs had to be a priority.
The appearance of oversight of supplements programs, you mean? Branding, mate. Gotta protect the brand. That's the bit that shits me the most about this whole affair. OK, Essendon got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, fine. It's the way the AFL have "protected their brand" that stinks. You can justify just about anything as a corporate organisation if you label it as "protecting your brand".

Most of the media are firmly against him now. BT was going off on him today, in particular about his failure to take responsibility for the whole saga.

I really liked reading this article in the age , and it basically talks about Essendon's false sense of entitlement, believing they are a football superpower, when in fact they are not. This has led to all kinds of oversights of judgement. I thought the article was spot on. And it wasn't written by Caroline Wilson for once.
