A little bit of levity from something I just read on Twitter :-

What is the collective noun for a group of drug cheats? A Hird

Not only did Essendon's doping program last an entire season, those organising it (together with the players) openly tried to conceal evidence of the program from their own club doctor (and of course ASADA) - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CYeU04bUQAApzQB.png

        AFL says:

        Upgrade 5 rookies immediately
        Can get 10 state players
Extra Players don't count towards the salary cap
        No further action against Essendon
Reviewing taking Brownlow off Jobe, decision by February

*** Dogs can immediately upgrade a rookie to replace Stew

That says to me that Jobe will keep his Brownlow. I mean, what's to discuss? It's obviously been delayed to allow for sufficient time to spin the outcome in the way they want.

Classic AFL MO, delay a decision to make it look like due process, then do what they think protects the brand best. Watson will be allowed to keep it.

The AFL can stage-manage most things but surely this is even outside their magical powers. He will lose the Brownlow - there is simply no choice. May as well give Lance back all those Tour victories otherwise.

Gilligan did just say in his presser that "The suspension must stand as part of our commitment to clean sport".

So Essendon have permission to go above the salary cap to cover the 12 ... Do we ?

But no authority has the power to compel them to do so, so you can be sure they won't.

Gill already saying the WADA code isn't right for the AFL and the players should have been given a free pass. This is just the standard PR stunt from the AFL. They lined up their little panel to clear the players, now it's been overruled they're pissed off they can't sweep it under the rug. He keeps repeating that's it's all circumstantial evidence, the players don't think they did anything wrong, Essendon is a powerhouse that will return to glory soon etc. The AFL is a disgrace, they would've covered this up in a second if Hird and Little had've played ball.

The government should remove all funding from the AFL until the entire commission is removed and corruption wiped out from the game. That press conference was a disgrace.

If Watson is allowed to keep his Brownlow then the rule needs to change from FAIREST and best. Being a proven drug cheat is not fairest. If he is allowed to keep it, the Bulldogs should immediately seek a Brownlow for Chris Grant who was also the best player according to the votes.

This has been going on for 3 years. Surely, in that time, the AFL could have sat down around a table and asked, "What are we going to do with the Brownlow if Jobe cops a guilty verdict?"

I hope a bookie runs odds. I'll lay serious cash on him keeping his medal, wrong or not.

We can merely upgrade a rookie. We can't go selecting new players.

Okay, I understand that, but it will cost us money to pay Stewart and upgrade a rookie. Can we go above the salary cap?

It shows either willful attempt to avoid discovery, or at the very least total compliance despite being aware something untoward was happening.

ASADA stated they were certain Essendon were injecting Hexarelin but couldn't provide compelling evidence so chose not to pursue it. They strongly believed CJC-1295 was used as well. They are out and out performance enhancing drugs used purely for unfair advantage.

They can state anything they like. Show me some actual proof.

Until I see actual evidence a miscarriage of justice has taken place and because we don't like the victim we all shrug our shoulders and say "oh well". When they try and railroad us (and they will, they have a taste for AFL clubs now, these bastards will see cheap political points dangling in front of them) will it be too much then?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Crameri's salary would now fall outside of the cap? If we upgrade a Rookie, do we also get to add a new Rookie to the list?

Maybe we should take the Talia case to the CAS. They seem to know how to conduct a proper investigation.

Seriously, you'd hope the penny is starting to drop at AFL house. You can't just shovel this stuff under the carpet and hope it'll all just go away.

ASADA chief says hundreds of text messages from Dank and players show covert attempt to source TB4.

No wonder the AFL won't check text messages.
