I was stunned to read that chief Essendon cheerleader Mark Robinson has been nominated for an award for his reporting on the Essendon drugs saga.

Wasn't Robinson subpoenaed by "the weapon" legal team because of having had private briefings by Hird's publicity team? What has journalism come to? I don't recall Robinson 'breaking' any stories, just recycling the pro- Hird propaganda?

Correct, and Hird's legal team were even invoicing Essendon for the time they spent briefing the media on an ongoing basis (i.e. Robbo and Warner their chief cheerleaders). To think they've been nominated for an award is just about the most disgusting part of the saga. Obviously the selection panel are card carrying members of the Essendon cult.

I thought Chip Le Grande was a shitty American sedan, which is why it was so surprising it was nominated for an award.

The Australian, the paper that brought you Greg "Venom" Denham and Fatprick Smith. Kevin Bartlett values their opinions, that says more than I ever could on their worth.

So at the moment the Essendon situation is;

Essendon & Hird took ASADA to court and lost after receiving strong advice they would win.

Hird is taking ASADA to court of appeal after receiving strong advice he'll win.

Essendon won't sack Hird because he'll take them to court and has received strong advice he'll win.

Essendon settled for $1mil with the Weapon on the steps of the court, apparently due to AFL interference (and even suggestions the AFL paid the settlement) despite receiving strong advice they would win.

Essendon are threatening to take Paddy Ryder to court if he goes to the AFL grievance tribunal to escape his contract and have received strong advice they'll win.

Essendon are threatening to take Port Adelaide to court if they don't accept Essendon's ridiculous trade offer for approaching Paddy Ryder while he's under contract and have strong advice they'll win.

Am I missing any court action? Other than the no doubt impending law suits from Essendon players against the club.

So Essendon have either been told they can sue anyone and everyone they've ever had contact with and win, or Mark Robinson and Mick Warner think that adding "and have received strong advice they'll win" at the end of every sentence somehow makes Essendon sound like they're in a position of power. Sort of like declaring Essendon 4/600 dec and ASADA all out for 80 after hearing only the opening statements.

Great work, I almost used this as a FB status update. I didn't as I've chosen to take a step back on that platform, plus, it might give my identity away, or at least point a few undesirable's towards here unnecessarily.

FRESH show-cause notices have been issued to 34 past and present Essendon players.

Included with the notices are individually tailored summaries of evidence, alleging use of banned peptide Thymosin beta-4.

Each document runs approximately 350 pages, ASADA saying it's distributed 12,000 pages of evidence in total.

It is the first time players involved in the club's controversial 2012 supplements regime have been provided with detailed evidence.

"By providing the detailed ‘show-cause’ notices, it is ASADA’s intention to offer players every opportunity to respond to the allegations against them," ASADA said in a statement.

"Players have ten days from receipt of the notices to lodge a submission for consideration by the independent Anti-Doping Rule Violation Panel (ADRVP).

"It is ASADA’s expectation that the ADRVP will convene to consider each of the 34 matters in early November.

"Due to the complexity and volume of material this process may take longer than normal for appropriate deliberation."

The players now have 10 days to respond, but could waive that right by not responding, and ask for the matter to be heard directly by the AFL's anti-doping Tribunal.

"The players’ legal team will review the material in the coming days and discuss the contents with players, to determine what response, if any, they will provide in respect to these amended show cause notices," AFL Players Association chief executive Paul Marsh said.

The show-cause process had been delayed by a Federal Court trial into ASADA's investigation – which Essendon and coach James Hird lost.

Hird is appealing Justice John Middleton's ruling, against the wishes of the club and some of its players.

A one-day appeal hearing before three judges has been set for Monday, November 10.

The anti-doping watchdog had been seeking legal advice as to whether it could issue the new notices while the appeal process was underway.

"Notwithstanding James Hird’s appeal of the Federal Court decision, ASADA has agreed to a formal request by the legal team for the bulk of the players to expedite the ‘show cause’ notice process," ASADA said.
