I wonder who many Bombres break rank now they know what the offer is.
You'd think the gap between penalties for those who break rank and those who fight it out will have to get smaller and smaller as time goes on. If these guys had have acted earlier then it would be a bigger deal.

It's easy to say that Crameri, Monfries, Prismal or whoever should have gone earlier, but labelling yourself as a drug cheat and taking it on the chin is a very big deal in professional sport. Especially if you acted in good faith and did what you were told.
    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I completely understand what you're saying, however, cooperating with the authorities should not give you a free ride and a two game suspension is just that. The punishment does not fit the crime. Sure there is an element of shame but it seems clear that they were instructed to take the substance so that is diminished somewhat. The fact is they failed their own due diligence assessments by not questioning the program. The two players named are brave I'll give them that. They are effectively calling out every single player who was part of that regime. They aren't going to keep many friends there I wouldn't think and I guess there needs to be some leniency - but two games?
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

There has been no news on the deal, so I am doubting the story until it comes out.

There's a lot of talk about provisional suspensions in the air, with concessions for NAB Cup participation supposedly begin granted. Do we know what exactly is going on?

No. Since the hearings have started it's been very quiet. This in camera hearing is one of the myriad of powers given to W/ASADA that makes me mistrust their process. How do we know they are asking the right questions if we don't know what the questions or answers are? How do we know if the penalty is proportionate?

Sometimes I think vengeance against people for having shown up the sport in a bad light is more important than punishing someone for having done something wrong.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

My take was that once they got the infraction notices they were effectively offered provisional suspension from playing games pending the outcome. If found guilty the provisional suspension counts as part of the punishment. If they play during this time, then they lose the right to claim the provisional suspension time as part of their final punishment if found guilty.

Of course there have been no games since the infraction notices, other than the International games and now potentially the NAB games.

What I don't get is why they have to ask for permission. I thought they would simply play or not play and therefore forfeit the provisional arrangements or not. This asking for permission sounds like a 'cake and eat it too' arrangement.

BREAKING: James Hird's appeal has been dismissed.

Appeal dismissed, and appellant must pay respondent's costs. The judgment was unanimous.

2:21pm: Hird and players were all legally represented at the interviews.

2:21pm: There was no unlawful disclosure of information to the AFL in the interview of 34 players or Hird.
                There was no procedural unfairness.
Argument about lack of free consent rejected.

2:20pm: The court rejects Hird's arguemnt because the decisionwas authorised by the ASADA Act and the NAD scheme.
Legislative scheme encoruaged ASADA to act with sporting bodies.

I wonder how denial among EFC and its supporters will mentally reconcile this now.....

Mr Hird is challenging the call, right baseline. Ball was called in.

The fate of the 34 players issued infraction notices by the AFL now lies completely in the hands of the AFL anti-doping tribunal, which has been adjourned until February 16.

No surprise, but I doubt Hird is capable of being told no. I'm sure Robbo will be frantically mashing out some incoherent waffle declaring Hird has strong legal advice that his appeal to the International Appeals Court will be successful.

I am sure that Essendon and James Hird would have had much more credibility if they had of put up the defence, we did not do it. But all we have seen is attempts to have the evidence ruled inadmissible on technical grounds.

Nobody with any sense would have spent that much if the evidence collected wasn't somehow indicative of their guilt, otherwise why go to that trouble and expense ?

So lets move forward. The AFL if it had the balls needs to make a statement. 2 week bans are insulting to the public who had to endure this dribble. Constant cover ups, lack of audit trail, and a refusal to accept they did anything wrong - 6 to 12 months minimum with no time accrued - they have not helped the process.
