This is the point. It’s a discussion forum. I think we should be able to discuss a star player while respecting him without exception. Everyone wants him healthy, happy and when ready playing footy. It’s what we all wanted for passed players that went through various battles like Tom Boyd did. But we can discuss it, be respectful and call out posts which are highly speculative and not in the spirit of this community. Discussion also allows us to defend him from the BS media that will eventually come and to show support for him. I don’t think banning a topic of discussion is the answer here. In fact, if posters crossed the line about him I’d have no hesitation in calling that out. It’s a slippery slope banning speech when this forum has shown for nearly 20 years it can respectfully discussed difficult and nuanced issues. No one here wants anything but the best for him and I want the opportunity to offer full throated support and also defence if/when needed should the media start to get tabloid about Marra. But I can’t do that is discussing him is banned.
i think it’s a better policy to make clear there are multiple posters with close personal ties. Which is clear. I think also if anyone is upset at a comment then play the post and not the poster. Make people explain what they mean and offer a defence/support/rebuttal of why they made a comment. But banning topics or swiping posters such as myself who has been refraining from the topic out of respect (who mentioned banning wasn’t the way to go) doesn’t achieve anything.
There's nothing more to learn.
Time to move on.BT COME BACK!

What exactly do you want to discuss?
I mean you've just said Marra didn't put in any effort on "match day"
Maybe be bold enough to say which match.
He was our leading goal kicker last season so I need some clarification. Or are you here just to lay the boots in for some unknown reason.
But it’s a fair counter balance to absolutely say he led our goal kicking last year and like the club, shouldn’t just be judged on the EF.
No one is putting in boots GG. I get it might feel like it. But I can’t see it on my screen.

I’ve never known Jeanette to lay boots in. Ever. Everyone here loves the club and I dare say all financially support the club.

As such I'm going to step back from this thread cause I just don't need the aggro.
To everyone (99%) who added their thoughts without making it personal against Marra I do thank you for sharing your thoughts.
All the best for Marra and I hope he makes a complete recovery.Comment

Im happy to post about footy topics in a respectful way which my 18+ years here demonstrates. I don’t think focusing on posters merely saying that discussion on a discussion forum is overly controversial is warranted. But yep, move on…

All, can we all please step back from this for the balance of the day? It's seriously got off track
I'd hope we can all take a small breather and see if things can calm down for a while.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"👍 3Comment

Gary respectfully asked everyone to stop posting. Not sure if you saw that request. So that’s what I’m doing. If you feel this is achieving something positive, then feel free to tag me tomorrow. But until then I’m respecting the wishes of the guy that runs this forum.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

If the Bali stuff is true, the club really need to take some responsibility for playing Marra in the Elim final and accept how that undermines all values they set around professionalism, integrity of selection etc, etc. It takes years to build that level of trust in a program.
Hopefully, they have put their hand up and made that a theme for the pre-season, if not, those cracks will start to appear in the 2025 season. The curse is dead.👍 3Comment
