My view is that we should just follow what the club has shared and it will eventually sort itself out.
I hope, and highly doubt, that Cleary sought permission from the club to approach Marra at the airport. Knowing that he is not so media savvy, I thought it was a shit opportunistic act to ambush him at the airport and try to get a story out of him.

My only surprise was that Morris wasn't there too, but he does all his shifty work in the shadows.

“I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.” - Jamarra

Good to see him happy and smiling, hopefully the weekend away with the All Stars team is another positive step in the right direction for him. Go well young man.

Poor form of the highest order.
For whatever reason, up to now, the media has shown a fair bit of constraint and let the club respond to the questions but it appears that Morris and Cleary made a concerted effort to break ranks.
Morris apparently got crook in Sri Lanka so he might not have had the energy to perform a drive by.

100%. AFL Journos continue to show, they are complete bottom feeders.
On the one hand, they want to promote good mental health, support RU Okay day, etc., etc, and then you stalk the young man, at the airport. He is not travelling with the team, or in an official capacity.
          Such poor form.
Not sure what Tom Morris is doing, nothing he said was even news.

"I feel fit, healthy, and honestly, the happiest I’ve ever been—but I have no idea what’s happening."
            — Marra via Mitch Cleary

This is Marra essentially challenging the club’s approach to him. I still don’t think he fully understands it. The club clearly wants him to sort out a few things away from football so he can be 100% committed to the team and meet all his obligations. He probably feels like he hasn’t done anything wrong and should already be back in the fold. If I had to guess, I would say he moves on after his current contract runs up at the end of 2026.

Also, I’d be gobsmacked if Cleary didn’t get approval from the club before doing the interview for 7 News. The media as a whole have been highly respectful towards Marra and the club around this situation, so I’m hesitant to criticise him unless we know for a fact that he went ahead without approval.

Is every word from Marta’s mouth the unvarnished truth? Or a throw away line to keep a journalist happy?

There is a lot more to the story than we are entitled to be informed of.

Hmmm...so it's okay to assume meaning behind Marra's words, but we need to give the journo the benefit of the doubt? There's no way the club signed off an airport ambush.

How about we give Marra the benefit of the doubt, that he stumbled over his words and "I have no idea what's happening" is actually a reference to his own headspace or family situation or the American presidency? There are so many things that could be - we don't need to speculate that it's a challenge to the club.

He has a few things to worry about, but the club isn't one. The club has had their full support behind him.

I f****in hate Tom Morris with a passion.

He has posted multiple sub stories under his JUH channel nine news story - which are totally unrelated to the Western Bulldogs

He is the absolute bottom of the pile in media land by a long long long way. A revolting human.

I'd be more surprised if the club agreed to it. At an airport is not the time for a lead journo to be putting a microphone in front of a troubled player.
I agree that the comments in isolation could come across as a bit of a "I'm okay and the club is the problem" but in my opinion that not they way they should be seen.
Perhaps this is the first installment in ramping up some pressure on the club. I wonder if Paul Connors was aware of this?

Now THAT is more likely, that Cleary went through Connors rather than the club.

If he thought it was in Marra's best interests to speak to someone, he would absolutely word up a reporter which flight he was on so a 'surprise' interview could be arranged.

Convince me I am reading too much into that.
He looked like a young fella who has been through the ringer and I took his comments re: I don't know what's going on to be more about himself or just a bit of word salad trailing off.

Wouldn't read a lot into it.

I thought his interview was bizarre, there is nothing to see here I'm 100%.,I'm not convinced unfortunately. I have a bad feeling this one will end with Marra leaving the club which will be bloody sad.

I don't know what's happening.....from the video it seemed like an honest appraisal of what's going to happen when (if) he rocks up to training Monday.

There'll be a plan in place which he will be told of on the day, he'll get into it, and hopefully it gets him on the road to a bit of happiness in his day job.
