I guess what I'm saying is I don't think it matters either way. If we had have performed better in the elimination final then perhaps I'd be a bit more emphatic about having locked him away, but we didn't perform and while I'm usually into the players Beveridge carriers some blame for that.
Everyone's always in a rush to do something because that's better than doing nothing. Often in my career and in life I've found that not to be the case, with things sorting themselves out.
That's not to say you can't be proactive. You need to have a coherent plan for multiple scenarios. But doing something when there's no clear justification for action doesn't make sense to me.
