With 6 picks in the draft which includes Cordy at 64 our focus now switches to the type of players regarding positions and experience we should draft.

Do we stick with best available at every selection or do we need to focus on filling a couple of particular needs?

I read somewhere that there are concerns about Wright's hands. Player Comparison: Will Minson.

I think the stars are aligning for once. I think there's a core of players in the range of our picks who have talent, and all with a variety of needs. Some likely defenders and key defenders, forwards and key forwards, and also utility, mids and runners. The names thrown up around here and in the media have a variety of talent and needs. I'm not sure that at pick 27 the talent/needs divide is much an issue if we were to lose them to pick 28, unless someone slips. With losing KPs and mids, we need a little of everything anyway. I'm not sure how it's done, but a list of expected players around the picks on best available, against the list of needs players also should matrix up things.

Bit of a balancing act. Realistically we still have holes everywhere, so it's a matter of prioritizing our greatest needs v the talent on offer. In an ideal world we get a bit of a mix (mids and key defenders specifically).

With our last one (or two) picks I'd go best available.

We have already brought in a few needs:
                Boyd : Power Forward
                Cordy : Tall defender
                Biggs : Running/rebounding defender
                Hamling : Key defender/Key forward

We have already addressed a few needs therefor imo best available with each selection, most likely be various types anyway, hopefully a few pacey players with decent to good skills, also should really tick off the good leadership/mentally strong characters.

I prefer best available. Get the best footy players to the club.

With 5 live picks I think we can go with the best available for the first 3 then a needs based player or two.

Also on the rookie selections, then we experiment with mature state leaguers to fill needs for 2015 unless a player or two slip through the National draft, low risk options.

I think we have the most live picks for any team. Hopefully there are enough good players to go around.

I want 5 picks who can kick, and two or three that are quick.

I will take 5 that can kick at minimum and agree we need some pace as well.

With the likely departures of Cordy and Minson over the next couple of seasons leaving us with only Campbell it might not be a bad idea.
