I've just had a look at the likely draft order and I'm wondering if Essendon might be the spoiler on Rhylee West by bidding for him.

Collier-Dawkins has been impressive so far. Would have to be strengthening his top 15 in the draft chances.

Is it that you see a clear alignment with his skill set, their needs and him being the likely stand out in that regard by their pick?

I think they will target midfielders and he will be around the mark. The fact that they might be able to work us a bit to might also appeal to them.

Good to hear. He's definitely one of the more intriguing prospects. Could bolt into the top 10 mix with a strong finish to the season and has a lot of untapped potential teams will be interested in.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

IMO this is exactly the problem with F/S. The AFL has been far to reactionary and heavy handed in their treatment of it. There is no way clubs like Essendon should basically act as a spoiler to stop kids getting to the club their fathers played for.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Revenge bid sounds just the sort of thing they would do, they were very keen on his Old Man until the back fence spoiled them getting him.

They got Ricky Olerenshaw instead! It's interesting that Ricky is still a bulldog supporter.

He deserves to be in the mix for any team outside of the top 10 picks who are looking for a midfielder. While I wouldn't put it past them to add a bit of niggle to the night, they would be crazy if they were to pass on a player they like a bit more.

If Essendon make a bid on West, what do we need to cough up?

Clubs haven't really done it though but I'm all for teams paying the correct market value for players and that includes father son or NGA players. No one should get a free passage to a club just because their father played there.
The added bonus for us is a 20% discount that other teams won't get for him.

I'll watch the draft night closely to see who puts in a bid for him.

Raises an interesting question about how high a bid for West would have to be for us to pass on him. Before our first pick? Top 10? Wonder what the cutoff point, if there is any, would be for our recruiting team.

No, they did that with Ayce Cordy. Wallis and Liberatore had slightly different father son rules
