So what’s the point in investing resources to develop these kids?

Because the academies are there for the kids and to broaden the overall talent pool...not just for the clubs.

There are kids who simply need help that the state bodies can’t provide - so the AFL has given their clubs a bit of incentive, through priority draft access - to get them to help fix it. Now it doesn’t really matter how many players each club are eligible to put into their academy...they can all put in 100 for all I care - but they then have to manage those players. So the reality is no matter what access they have, how are they going to manage more than 8-12 and stay within the soft cap?

The academies are for the players, not for the clubs.

Just watching the footage of Ugle-Hagen he reminds me a bit of Barry Standfield. The booming kick and learning from mistakes. If Barry missed a set shot from a certain spot then you be sure that the next shot he had from that particular spot would go through at goalpost height. He was a smart player who learned from his mistakes, Let's hope JUH is a similar player to Barry. because Barry was a great swingman who could play in defence and then go forward and snag a couple of goals and then return to defence

Callum Twomey

Finlay Macrae, the younger brother of Western Bulldogs star Jack, was excellent today for Vic Metro in the U17s ‘Futures’ game. Unsurprisingly can find the footy - he had 30+ disposals and a goal. Some good signs for him ahead of 2020 draft.

Its good to see us putting in the resources to benefit the development of these kids.

Its a pity if any of them are any good excluding F/S will most likely go to another club due to the rule changes.

Nice vid and update. I really do love the Father-Sun program. Such a great part of AFL. Is there an updated list of when some of these kids reach draftable age?

Apparently the Croft's are only 16 and actually 2023 draft eligible. Jordan on Calder Cannons list and is 199cm. Mitchell taller again but has a volleyball scholarship.

Billy Kolyniuk is also playing for the Western Jets as a 19 year old.

Kyan Eagleton played under 18s for West Adelaide last year, not sure what he's doing this year.

This is what we want for father/sons.

Get them playing other sports so we can just select them from alternative pathways without using draft pick/points.
