They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

There's a match report on the herald sun website, posted yesterday. I can't see the info as I won't give them a cent.

I don't blame you. I'm keen to know but I don't read the Murdoch press for much the same reason that I don't drink from the toilet bowl. It's full of shit and in the end it's no good for your brain.

          No mention of Ugle-Hagan

Australia’s under-17s too good for New Zealand as next generation shows off talent at Marvel Stadium

Some of Australia’s best up-and-coming talent strutted their stuff at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.

The Australian under-17s were a class above the New Zealand Falcons as fans got an early preview of the 2020 AFL Draft class.

Captain Will Phillips (Oakleigh Chargers/Beverley Hills) was outstanding through the midfield, while Elijah Hollands (Murray Bushrangers/Wodonga Bulldogs) kicked three goals in the 17.20 (122) to 7.3 (45) win.

The team featured several famous names with father-son prospects Luke Edwards (Adelaide) and Taj Schofield (Port Adelaide) and Henry Walsh (brother of Carlton’s No. 1 pick Sam) putting their best foot forward.

Coach Luke Power was impressed with local talents Phillips, Campbell Edwardes (Calder Cannons/Keilor), Nik Cox (Northern Knights/Montmorency) and Connor Downie (Eastern Ranges/Vermont).

“Will was terrific and captain for the game. He played midfield for most of it and kicked a couple of goals,” he said.

“He won a lot of the footy and it’s important for guys like him to be hard around the contest because the New Zealand boys are obviously grown men.

“Nik is a developing tall with good size and a really good runner. It was good to see him defend really well and beat his man but I really liked the way he looked to run off and create some attack for us.

“Campbell was pretty good. Played a bit of forward and on the wing for a little bit. He worked hard.

“Connor is explosive and kicks the ball really well on his left foot.

“He’s come up late, come on to our radar recently. We hadn’t heard of him until the start of the year and he’s doing some really nice things with Eastern.”

Power said the match was a chance for the players to challenge themselves as they continue to develop ahead of next season.

“They need to be realistic that this year is a development year for them and next year is the important year,” he said.

“We need to manage them to make sure they’re coming into next year ready to perform.”

They played an open aged NZ team. Not anything super from Jamarra in that particular game.
But his overall progression is going well.

He kicked three goals playing local footy (seniors) the week before the u17 game.
A developing tall is bound to be inconsistent. I'm still well aboard the hype train.

Just a stat post, at roughly the one third part of the NAB League (formerly TAC cup) season:

                Josh Kellett:
                178cm - 73cm (start of year)
                Defender

3 X teams of week for the entire league (out of 5 games) (from draft central)
                5 X games played
League leader for Rebound 50's (36 total)
                Averaging: 17 disposals, 5 marks, 1.6 tackles, 7.2 rebound 50's, 1 inside 50's
                Can be drafted this year

                Ewan MacPherson
                178cm - 82kg (start of year)
Defender (owing to being bottom ager, has previously been and will be a midfielder I suggest)

4 X games (despite being a bottom ager)
1 X team of week for the entire league (this week with Kellett) (from draft central)
Averaging: 12 disposals, 3.3 marks, 5 tackles, 3.5 rebound 50's (disposals are split nearly 50/50 for uncontested & contested possession)
                Can be drafted next year

Pleasing signs for the club, and as Ozza pointed out, NGA Jamarra Ugle-Hagan played for U/17 Australian side this week.

Of the other bottom age NGA prospects: Nick Stevens, a tall mid, is already 191cm & 86kg and played one game. Fergus MacDonald, a monster, is already 196cm & 93kg and hasn't played yet. God forbid they come on with this size with 18 months of growing until their draft.

The talls are probably at the height and weight they will stay which is when the others start to catch up, as we know some talls are freaks at a young age until all the other players start to grow.

FWIW Ugle-Hagen has been listed at 191cm, 193cm and 195cm in different articles. Should be considered a tall given he's not draft eligible until 2020 so will likely grow.

From what I've read online, he's considered KPP material for the reasons you state. Good signs.

I read a brief piece in Courier Mail today with CEO of GWS railing against the construct of the Victorian Academies, and it giving access to players who are not outside traditional football pathways and what a rort it is. The article indicated Gil and AFL honchos will change the rules soon.
I'd say there based on this being the case, we should not get too vested in the notion of Ugle-Hagan being available to us next year.

I'm almost certain Jamarra is an indigenous kid, and the NGA system is about broadening the talent pool of indigenous kids from other areas (like Warnambool, where he's from). To cut him out would strike at the core purpose of starting the NGAs.
