Re: 2020 draft watch
Really poor by ESPN.
If the Giants get Chapman at 13 that's highway robbery.
And why does it say Zane Trew is in the Essendon Academy? He clearly isn't - the kid is from the other side of Australia. What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment

Re: 2020 draft watch
Everyone is in Essendon Academy and Essendon have absolute rights over them, even if they didn't know it.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Also:
Pre-ESPN I used to include clubs and states, but this is the structure ESPN like my profiles presented. I might ask the question as I agree they're interesting details.FFC: Established 1883

From Knightmare:
Raak is slightly on the shorter side for a key defender, but has grown this year which is promising. He's developable and firmly in the draft mix.FFC: Established 1883

Re: 2020 draft watch
I'm not clever enough to do the quote of quotes from another site BAD, but I have massive issues with the exclusion of the club of origin details. They aren't "interesting" details and the players don't suddenly kerplunk into the AFL from a space ship.
KIDS read these draft profiles. And when they see that player 'x' - let's for the sake of argument, say "Logan McDonald" - plays for THEIR LOCAL pathway club, well, that inspires THEM to have a go. If these players are treated as if they fell from the stars, well, how does that help kids, clubs, etc...
It's not interesting. It's a critical part of building the pathway to the next. People in Perth (for example) would cheer for Andrew Gaff ahead of Paddy Cripps...yes, of course they are Eagles supporters but half of them have no idea that Gaff came through the VM pathway (Chargers) or that Cripps was from the WA mid-west (part of East Fremantle's zone). It is rubbish. The more we promote where players are from the more chance we have of someone finding inspiration from the "He's just like me" (or she's just like me for that matter). Listing the players without their clubs is a slap to the clubs, to the volunteers, to everyone who just wanted to help along the way...it isn't right. The draft is the one time we usually see a direct tie between each player and their 'club'. This is rubbish by ESPN...whether it is the author's fault or not I have no idea. What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment

Re: 2020 draft watch
I have massive issues with JUH getting the nod at #1 when he has played no footy this year. Surely we can agree Logan Mcdonald (who tore it up in the WAFL) or Thilthorpe should be the go-to choices.
Also, did you see JUH goofing off by shooting footballs at basketball hoops? Sheesh. Third rounder at best your honour.Comment

Re: 2020 draft watch
Interesting that Neither Raak nor McPherson are rated in the top 48 players. That's good, especially if we are keen to take themComment

Re: 2020 draft watch
I do hope we will be active in the draft this year and not just restricted to Jamarra, SOS (Son of Super) & possibly Raak.
We still have issues on our list and I would like to see us target these;
1. Ruckman
If Martin retires after just one year we are right back to where we started. We need another young ruckman on our list developing and this year would be an ideal opportunity to add one to the main list or even the rookie list. The options for us this year are likely to be available mid-late draft
2. Small Forward/s
It seems likely Cavarra will get another go. But when I look at our list of smaller forwards there isn't any I see that are creative goal kickers, opportunist types. We badly need good ground level players who can swoop on a loose ball & kick a goal over the shoulder or rove a pack and slot it through. Then there are the pressure forward types. Maybe we should draft a couple!Listening to Brahm's 3rd RacketComment

Re: 2020 draft watch
Raak didn't get an invite so hopefully he slips to Cat B territory.
It will be interesting to see if we take more players - we will almost certainly free up five list spots so we can use all five picks with points attached to them to fulfil the requirements of any JUH bid.
I wouldn't be surprised if Duryea is placed on the rookie list next year so we can keep a senior player but still use that list spot. McLean's on the LTI so we can play him from round 1 anyway.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Our most successful indigenous pick in recent years (Harbrow) was a rookie, and recruiters always seem to let them slide because of concerns over background / adjustment - and of course we have stated a desire to have more indigenous players on our list as it helps our trading efforts if we identify an OOC indigenous player. From a talent vs pick point of view it makes sense and it's a list need. We were linked to Lonie as a potential trade FFS.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: 2020 draft watch
Aside from JUH our picks are gonna be right at the end of the draft. Imo the player types that you can still find good prospects for even at the end of the draft are key defenders, crumbing forwards and ruckmen. We should be aiming to grab these types as they are what we need, particularly crumbing forwards which is a player type that could fill a senior role for us pretty soon.I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

Re: 2020 draft watch
So how does it work? If we take JUH in the first pick, we forfeit all our other points. But we still need to get two/three more players don't we? Or do we? Are we sitting on our current players because we might have to only pick up one? Most other clubs have delisted quite a few.
If we do have to get more than JUH, when does our next pick come in?Comment
