Brodie Grundy slid because he is a weird dude who interviewed poorly. I wonder how much actual on-field impact is the predominant factor in recruiting anymore.

But some kids laugh as their coping strategy and those kids are OK as long as you can get them a bit of confidence and teach them that they do belong at an elite level.
Can happen to adults too. Was reading how Michael Douglas found it difficult to go to funerals as he found it hard not to laugh.

My son has a problem with smiling when he is in strife. One of his teachers was having a ping at him about it one day as I arrived to pick him up after school. I took my son out to the playground, set him up on the equipment and then I rounded my way back to the classroom (his teacher was standing there smiling as I enjtered the room-may have even said "giddaye, err what's the problem?"and then the confusion reigned on his face as I shut the classroom door behind me and said "I'm thinking that you are the problem"
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

With COVID-19 restrictions gutting recruiting departments and scuppering junior football seasons, AFL recruiters are facing one of their toughest seasons in the job.

But Oakleigh have 4 players listed
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

                  Oakleigh?? Please.

That's not a footy club. That is as much a creation of the AFL as the "ORANGE". Ditto the other "NAB League" teams.

                    DGB and Trew?

DGB touted as a potential no 1 by East Coast draft watchers

                          That's the kicker right.

We are playing games...but no-one from Melbourne can come and watch. So...welcome to the world of video based recruiting...or worse, welcome to the world of video based recruiting of players who many last saw as 17 year olds (if at all). I think McLean missed out on the Cannons squad as a 17 year old...then went in the top (I want to say 30??). So...how exactly could a player like that get picked up this year? And if he doesn't, who gets taken in his place? Someone who performed well at the u16 champs?

I mean - have you heard of Tom Swift? What about Chris Yarren. And no - not THAT Chris Yarren...the OTHER one. You didn't know there was another one who kicked 20 goals in 3-games in the 16's? Who was in the AIS Academy for 2-years and thought of as a potential number #1 overall pick?

                          LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

                          LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

I want to get some popcorn warmed up before the draft this year. I genuinely cannot wait. Our club is just so lucky to have an academy kid who we would have taken no matter what...outside of that, well....good LU-UCK!

Back to Trew - inside mid. Nice kid. (And yes, I am a poet.)

Cheers. Yep McLean changed TAC teams from memory just to get his chance as a top-ager.

The bolters are really missing out this year. Oliver didn't make the champs squad and went in the top 5, Bont surged late, Ward bolted late, etc. In recent drafts we haven't shied away from 19 year olds so we might find a bargain at the tail end of the 2021 draft.

If/when list sizes are cut, there may even be a DFA (or 2) we will consider.

Dalymple's strategy has been based around picking late bolters. Lucky Sydney have academy picks too.

Given the crapshoot nature of 2020, it's the worst year to have a bunch of high picks. Might be worth seeing if we can get into the 2021 draft in a big way.

Logan McDonald rising fast after racking up some very impressive numbers in the WAFL.

If he keeps this up, he should be in the mix for pick 1 you'd imagine.

Here is a link to his latest game where he kicked 4 and clunked a few contested marks against men: https://7plus.com.au/sevens-wafl?epi...OLaUgOa-ouusQM
