I guess that approach is using the open list spot and the Mid season draft the way it was designed by addressing needs.
I'm not sure how successful it's likely to be this season though because whoever comes in will be a long way back compared to other players already at the club.

I don’t know who the player is but another genuine forward of the small to medium variety would be great for our list, particularly if they have some wheels. Not sure this type of player is available at the mid season draft though.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

They are coverage if required though. Many teams need to improvise during a season with a not ideal replacement due to multiple injuries in certain positions.

A club can't have a whole squad of mature and ready to go backups or they will not be developing enough players.

An injury to one player in a position we have sufficient depth is not a reason to waste a list spot on a player never likely to get a game.

You can say that for any position in the team. I picked CHB because, Bruce will be out for most of the season, Keath is dodgy with injuries, Jones is an unknown and even Gards tends to get injured alot.

I mean unknown with regards to injury, not ability. You know what it is like for the old fellas.

Boyd Woodcock, former Port player, carved Footscray up on Saturday. He's a small forward, kicked 2, had 32 disposals and 6 tackles. Thought he won the game for Southport. He's only 23.

                  Think he deserves another go

I liked Woodcock at Port. Seems to have pace that we really need.

On what I saw of the Southport game, he played more mid.
I would see him as an upgrade on McComb and woukdn't be unhappy if we took him.

Fair suggestion. Probably a bit stiff to be delisted and not picked up.

I really rated him in his draft year. Seems a natural footballer but perhaps doesn’t quite have the pace / agility of the truly elite small forwards in the game. I’d be happy enough to add him.

If we want KPD depth. Ethan Phillips was (surprisingly) not picked up last year.
First Fothergill medalist for 15 years not to get drafted, 198cm KPD (only 2cm short of BAD's benchmark!)

He's from Port Melbourne but we can forgive that

I heard Phillips interviewed last year and sounded like someone who would fit in nicely at a club.

How on earth was he not selected. That highlight reel is as good as it gets for KPD. We need him now!
