Surely Jack Buller gets a chance.

Not exactly sure what else he needs to do to be on a list.

I have a sentimental attachment to Jaiden Hunter and would love to see him given an opportunity. Has had a retched injury run since missing out in his draft year - essentially missed the next 2-years of footy - and would be surprised if he is picked because of this...But - clubs do crazy stuff all the time!
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Hunter is described as an athletic tall, what position is he best suited to?
More of an In Bruges guy?

He was a ruckman at junior level who is becoming a key forward.

He would be 195cm and famously told his team-mates his footy super-power was 'HEART'.

        He wasn't wrong.

          RyleyStoddard is an interesting one.

Not quite sure what attributes he lacked at Sydney as he couldn’t ever establish his game but a good user who could be helpful for our back half mix.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I’d be more inclined to bring in a midfielder. I don’t think we have a pressing need for another running half back flanker.

Re: Mid Season Draft 2023 Discussion

I suspect a small number of clubs might opt to put players on the long term injury list and open up a spot for the mid season draft. This might mean a player we are interesting in could have another suitor.

One name I've heard in an overall speculation that clubs might be considering is Kai Owens who is the 23yo brother of the Saints Mitch. 192cm, versatile and a strong mark.

I wonder how our success with JOD might shape our decisions. Do we double down and add another player from a non traditional pathway? Do we go for a more midfield type or do we jump in early and grab a ruck man?
Do we try and address any gaps we think we have now or do we focus on the longer term?

I'm sure the club has a small list of players identified now and those questions should be answered quickly at the mid season draft.

Just read that we were one of the clubs that asked the question with Vic cricketer Will Parker. Unfortunately he has committed to cricket.

How about now with JJ out?
If a BP type projects as a decent player, I'd be comfortable bringing one in. I still get the sneaky feeling Poulter is our most likely pick though.

Does Tim Callan have a younger brother?

                      Umm - maybe?

He is only young and is playing league footy.
                      He never gets the ball.

I just don't know what he might end up being...

I'm still comfortable with not chasing a JJ like for like. But I do like your suggestion of a BP type project player.

Where has Poulter mainly been playing - wing?

Yes, he's been more of a winger for Footscray but versatile enough to play on a HBF.

Poulter has been very good each week for Footscray. Knows our systems and we do reward those through our VFL program.

Luke Goater might be in the mix as well. It would be a long shot but he has nominated.

                                Inside Trading Article

FORMER Collingwood wingman Caleb Poulter is in the mix to land an AFL lifeline in next Wednesday night's Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

The 20-year-old submitted a late nomination on Tuesday and is among the nearly 300 prospects who have nominated, filing for a shorter-term contract to help increase his chances of landing a second opportunity.

Poulter joined Footscray in the VFL after being delisted by the Magpies at the end of last season and is understood to have attracted some interest from the Western Bulldogs after playing under their noses in recent months.
Gold Coast looked at the South Australian during last year's trade period, but nothing eventuated with both clubs two of the big players in that exchange window.

The Western Bulldogs are expected to make a selection and could look to add more coverage across half-back after losing Jason Johannisen for at least the next two months.
Looking extremely likely that we've offered a deal to Poulter, makes sense. If we lose one of Baker or Williams then we're stuffed for wing options and Poulter has been playing across half back as well so we might prefer to not have to push Treloar to the HBF to replace JJ.
