Looking extremely likely that we've offered a deal to Poulter, makes sense. If we lose one of Baker or Williams then we're stuffed for wing options and Poulter has been playing across half back as well so we might prefer to not have to push Treloar to the HBF to replace JJ.
I guess there is a couple of components to this as you have pointed out.
Move JJ to the LT injury list would make an extra spot available and still give us an opportunity to draft another player as well.
At least Poulter has been training with us so we will know if he is fit enough to offer something for us this year.

I don’t hate this. He really looked like he had something in his first season.
I don't hate it either but I haven't seen enough positives in him to get genuinely excited about it.
Given his late nomination I suspect it's very much because of the JJ injury which means we might not have as much faith in Vandermeer, Cleary, Crozier and Gallagher.

I saw a bit of him at pre-season training and was impressed with his marking as well as his ability to cover ground. Good stamina and attacks the contest. I can't remember whether or not he was blessed with a lot of foot speed but what does stick in my mind was one of the match sims where I thought he was BOG. Marked everything. In the absence of a more compelling case, I'd give him a try. Gives us insurance should Williams or Baker go down.

He does catch the eye but I wonder how much upside he has. It says a bit about our list if we can't cover a couple of wingers easily.
I won't mind it if we select him and it probably makes some sense.

Williamstown teammate and former Melbourne defender Marty Hore has also attracted some late interest ahead of the mid-season draft, including from the Western Bulldogs and Greater Western Sydney.
Hore, 27, has been the leading intercept player in the VFL this year, averaging 5.6 intercept marks and 10.4 intercept possessions.
Being reported in the Herald Sun, I'm not sure he'd be that much of an improvement on TOB to warrant being a midseason pick.
