Well really it depends if we bring a defender or 2 in, if we don’t well I don’t see what he’s done wrong in the vfl that would suggest he shouldn’t get another year to keep a bit of depth down back. Interrupted start to the year feel he’s built as the years gone on. Can play tall or small as well. Likely jones and Duryea will finish up as well so what do you suggest?

Can you please explain what you think he has shown at VFL level that would get him another season on an AFL list. He is treacle slow and a poor decision maker. Maybe VFL IS his level.Leave a comment:

I think Coffield has shown enough in the vfl the last few months to deserve another year at least. Definitely a good depth option.Leave a comment:

Surely Khamis will seek a trade? Croft is being played ahead of him and Lachie Smith now seems ahead of him in the pecking order.
I can't see how Coffield, Poulter, Scott (sadly) can justify another contract.
On A.Jones I'd sign him up for one more year. We need to follow the Lindsay Gaze analogy around height and ability but swap it with pace and ability.
Regarding Arty, in 4 years he has only impacted a few games. He will probably get another season but on results he shouldn't.
I don't know if my memory is wrong but his best football in the seniors was when Cody was playing.Leave a comment:

What’s everyone’s thoughts on our out of contract players and who stays and who goes?
I think L.Jones and Duryea most likely retire
Also think Treloar, JJ, Poulter, Baker, Coffield and Sellwood deserve at least another year so that leaves Scott and A.Jones as possible delistings.
Buku possible trade out along with Jamarra.
So that’s maybe 6 out the door is that enough? Maybe a couple others may be stiff and get the chop also?

I get what you're saying but I'm not sure that it holds true.
Replacing retired and marginal players is the cycle of the footy and the club has to back their talent identification.
For example, Daniel would have struggled to keep a regular spot this year but we replaced him with Dolan.
It's a slight step back in the short term but hopefully a better long term play.
By year 2 or 3 we would be hoping Dolan becomes a regular senior player and someone who impacts the scoreboard.
I did make it simple I must say in my first post but I think our points do come together as one.
Adding to the equation We also needed to do it now or Tassie would get a lot of the talent in the next few years .👍 1Leave a comment:

It depends on draft quality too - this year is considered but a weak and compromised draft so most teams will probably extend a fringe player by a year rather than cut too hard and pick up a bunch of kids unlikely to make it.
I suspect we finish a bit early on night 2 of draft night this year.Leave a comment:

The point is it’s no good delisting players if there is no one better to replace them.
I think a lot depends on what’s around in that space .

I’d much rather offer something to Jayden Nguyen, who looks to be a really tough bastard and is also out of contract.Leave a comment:

Sellwood and Jacques are developing as smaller defenders, and I've been impressed with Cleary's improvement this year.
Should we just get an experienced guy (e.g. Budarick, and we're interested in Wehr) and back what we have / potential draftee to develop? Lual looks like he has pace but is he better than what we have or could get cheap?
Just from my perspective but Sellwood doesn't have the run to play on opposition small forwards but he is a very good prospect.
It would be nice to know if he could have been an option for Melksham, Fritsch or even Petracca
It's a bit of a punt but Lual should have the pace and athleticism to replace JJ and DuryeaLeave a comment:
