North Melbourne has taken Matt Whitlock with pick No.27, the last selection of the first round, after trading with Richmond.

In the trade, the Roos got No.27 and the Tigers' future second in exchange for the Kangaroos' future first.

What's the trade? sounds like their future first in some way has gone?

Kangaroos get Pick 27 (Matt Whitlock) and Richmond future 2025 2nd round pick.

Tigers get Kangaroos 2025 future 1st round pick.

North would want to be confident of a big spike in their ladder position, even after selling off so many of their home games.

Honestly, it’s a mockery of a competition that gave them a bunch of firsts to trade last year that they’d do this trade. Richmond are making out like bandits all before Tassie get in. I agree, just shut North down for the good of the competition.

GWS strategy seems different to other clubs. They identify types of players they want and draft accordingly.
Rather than best available.
Interesting philosophy.

It does lead them to taking some bolters but it's obviously unbalancing the team as their VFL team is real short for the most part.

As no one but reasonable bids on Lions players. They have a glut of picks in the 40’s. I wonder if they and we are interested in trading a F3 for one of them. Essentially getting back our Pick 48 this year.

Why wouldn't anyone have taken it? Doesn't sound right. Unless next year's draft really is that bad.
