I can see why but I think it certainly increases the value of having versatile players that can play a range of positions too, and I'm not sure if Kelly can do that as well as a few others who may be around the mark. Bontempelli and Sheed can do that.
My opinion of Sheed still hasn't changed, but strengthened. I think he's moved up into the top five with this rule coming in, and the likelihood that the AFL will again drop it by around five rotations per year to around 100 if they deem it successful. Strong players with versatility will be the future for 90% of the positions.
Being locked in for at least pick four I think it'll come down to him or Billings with TB, MS and JA gone.

It really comes down to versatility now. If a midfielder can take a spell as a forward (and be productive) he has to be a better value to a side than a player that rotates mainly on and off the bench.
Sheed and Bontempelli certainly offer that level of versatility whereas I think Kelly offers more of an endurance option.

Add Billings to that mix too. Although his main weakness is his endurance, he can build that and because he is a dangerous forward option, in the future he will switch between there and the midfield. Him and Dahl would be a dangerous combination
Macca talking on 774 about the draft. Said he has just received a highlights DVD of the top 5.
He has also confirmed that the recruiters have the last say in picking the players. He may have some input, but the recruiter isnot doing his job if he isnot having the final say.
This really puts paid to some opinions on this forum over the past few years.

Did he mention the names of the top 5?
Or that we would force North into using their first pick?

I suppose the coaches say what they need, e.g. tall forward, pacey centre, etc. Then the recruiters go and find them.
I guess the coaches also have an input into attributes they rate more highly then others which help recruiters rank players in accordance to what is more valuable to the team
