Re: Coronavirus Info & Helpful Direction
We have spent the last 2 weeks preparing for the possibility of commencing “remote learning”. I worked Monday and Tuesday last week, been home since. Strictly speaking, I’m on ‘holidays’, though trips to Coles have so far been the highlight. We haven’t been given official notice, but I’d bet money on not going back to work in 2 weeks. We’re fairly well prepared, but as with everyone, it’s uncharted territory. I’m already going stir crazy 😂Our club was born in blood and boots, not in AFL focus groups.Comment

Re: Coronavirus Info & Helpful Direction
It is tough times out there for everyone with this coronavirus pandemic and right now the health of everyone is the number one priority. People need to take the advice with social distancing etc seriously to flatten that curve. I have been down a bit lately with no footy and no wathcing the Bulldogs and just in general with what is going on but if we can play our role together will overcome this."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I was semi retired now retired full time. My wife's sold her share in a vintage shop recently so now we are hibernating. We both having underlying health conditions so apart from walking the dog and grocery shopping we are home. No visitors, even our 3 girls and 3 grandchildren unfortunately. We also have sold our home recently and in June are moving to Agnes Water in Queensland so that should be fun moving over the border. Hope all on WOOF stay very very safe. It is a crap time for all Australians...I should say the world."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I'm just so happy - ecstatic"Comment

A friend seit me that "we can save the world by sitting on the couch and watching telly. I feel like I have been preparing for this my whole life" meme. It was funny the first six times. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: Coronavirus Info & Helpful Direction
it really hit me around Monday and Tuesday Easty, pretty much the time many of us realised we were looking down the barrel of losing our jobs or actually losing them due to shut downs etc. But, I've bounced back a bit, and am kind of used to not doing a lot because that was life in Vietnam a lot of weekends if the weather was oppressively hot/humid and the pollution completely feral.

At the moment there is still plenty of food available but further restrictions will eventually impact supermarkets.
It's important to have a well stocked pantry and freezer and to organise recipes to put together meals. People who live on fast food are going to be impacted in a big way if those options close for them and will need to be able to prepare their own meals. That sounds simple enough but it will test many people who aren't prepared.
For people with mental health challenges, they need to be seeing their doctors now because working from home over an extended period of time could be problematic for them.
It's so important for people who are stuck at home either with their work or because they have lost their job to have a balanced routine and plan. Balancing exercise and mental stimulation is critical. People should look at online courses etc to ensure they just don't just get stuck watching Netflix all day. Have a bucket list and try and check off activities each day.
I'd be interested to hear what strategies people might try to help manage this extended period of isolation?
I suspect we will find out just how time poor people genuinely are or if they're just not organisedWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

In honesty, the ability to do nothing has always been a bit of a strong suit for me. I'm extremely motivated from a career point of view.
But, literally nothing satisfies me like doing nothing and taking up the benefits of the self introspection that comes with doing nothing.
We aren't built to work, we just have to because that's how the system is geared. Embrace this time, enjoy the silence, because irrespective how bad things are you're never going to get it again.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

The time frame of 9 weeks plus is probably accurate and what will really start to bite is when the governments enact phase 3 and potentially phase 4 restrictions on the community. It's going to test a variety of people so it's just so important to plan ahead.

We have a reasonable size yard and house, but it’s still barely enough space to contain the energy of a 10 year old boy. I feel for those who don’t have the space.Park that car

My wife has been online shopping at Target/Big W for art/craft activities and supplies to help keep the kids occupied, plus we have plenty of board games/decks of cards/dice etc to try and stave off boredom.
The biggest thing I can't afford to run out of is flour. I'm reasonably handy when it comes to baking so I can make my own bread/pizza dough/muffins/cakes/pasta if I need to, but only if I have what I need.Comment

They have no desks and have their laptops set-up on the coffee and kitchen tables. He said he and his wife are just so used to taking the children to the park, beach, the indoor swimming pool or to their grand parents to let them burn up their energy and their unit was never suitable to be in lock-down
He jokingly said they would need marriage counseling but for so many people being locked down in a small accommodation will unearth some major challenges.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

We have a butcher and couple of greengrocers who deliver around town and can do so without direct contact if need be.

Re: Coronavirus Info & Helpful Direction
I was speaking to an account manager last week who is working from home. He lives in a 2 bedroom unit with his wife and 2 young and energetic children and they're are trying to keep the kids entertained and both be productive with their work. It's a losing battle.

I'll be partially working from home from this week and all of our useable living space is open plan, so there's no getting away from kids and the dog. Although I've set myself up a designated office area (next to the kids craft table).Park that car
