(Review does allow for a single line entry)
Strange there was no thread here to discuss recent CD/album purchases, and was sparked into action by the JB Hifi sale of 20% off all CDs, and sparked into posting via cheap bulk order sangria (www.grays.com.au is magic).
Due to their dogged marketing I stumbled in and ended up with:
- The Tame Impala EP
- Augie March - Moo You Bloody Choir (some fancy 2 disc edition)
- You Am I - best of* (The Cream & the Crock)
- CW Stoneking - Jungle Blues (this guy is great but a total freak)
- Hermano - ...into the exam room (some may know, the vocalist is John Garcia, ex-Kyuss
so is demi-god)
- Beaches - self titled, listening to it now and is brilliant. Not sure I'll get to the other CDs in full for a while as it is brilliant and warrants repeated listenings.
No really, it isn't just Meredith memories speaking, it is a damn fine piece of album.
* Only bought as I bumped into Tim the week it came out. I was at a pub in Fitzroy, he was hanging out before a gig, I was pissed off as my (then) GF was 40 minutes late, and three women were shamelessly throwing themsleves at him. He was happily married with a 1 yo (at that moment anyway) and wanted nothing of it, so spend ages trying to coax me into conversation (by way of escape) by watching the early 80s GF reply on the TV. I was kind of being rude in retrospect, so the barman saw our predicament and put the best of CD on.
Tim (first name basis biatches!) proceeded to play air guitar to his own songs. Not just any air guitar either; that trademark sideways-bended-knees-bob-down sort of thing he does.
Was funny & self-absorbed on the surface, but he was so down to earth & earnest I gave him a smile & a nod. Jaysus, the dude has knocked out Missy Higgins twice, so I'm prepared to label him as a great bloke.
Go on, post your recent album purchases/opinions/reviews here.
