It needed to have a conclusion but they've not done a great job of doing that in a satisfying way for me. It's entertaining but I watch GOT every week because it (at least used to) offer a bit more than that.

They offered them 2 more seasons I believe.
I think they wanted it to end as soon as possible. Perhaps it was taking it's toll on them. It's a hell of a project to be at the helms of non stop for this long. Especially when it started it came from nowhere.

I think this is the problem with this season, it's just going too quickly without the required time to fully justify some of the decisions made by characters.

Currently we have 1 episode left and so much to wrap up, i'm preparing myself for disappointment in the hopes i'm not.

I'm still enjoying the season but there is just a few things that I think they could of done better. Really even just a couple of episodes might of helped to pace things better.

If you watch the making of each episode, it is very taxing and takes months and months to complete.

If you take a look at the video I posted on episode 5, and the part where the Mountain and the Hound fight. You can see the exhaustion in the actors and what they go through. This was particularly evident in episode 3 where all the scenes were shot at night in the freezing cold.

My only criticism was the last season seemed very rushed even with the extra time per episode.

                    Re: Game of Thrones

Man weird episode.Even with some key moments it struggled to deliver any truly memorable scenes. Dany's death was underwhelming I thought, the way they just skipped straight to "3 weeks later" afterwards was weird, Bran being appointed the king of a realm that his house had just excused itself from was bizarre, and the episode as a whole was a bit like the end of LOTR. Drawn out, slow as hell and just a touch too nice.

So much stuff feels like a complete waste of time now too. Arya spending that entire boring season sweeping halls so that she could become a faceless man and kill two side characters, Jon becoming a Targaryeon only for nobody to really find out and it to have no real major impact on how events would have played out anyway etc.

Overall it's been a great show, with great characters, with great plot lines and made great entertainment, it's a shame it fizzled out in the end. Even the major plot lines and decisions they made for most of the last season weren't terrible in and of themselves, but I think they just screwed up the execution of almost everything they tried. For what could've been the greatest season ever they really only had bits and pieces of the battle for Winterfell and decent sized chunks of the King Landing demolition to point to as truly awesome parts of the show. Can't imagine anybody is hanging out to rewatch the last episode.

Also that hand of the king meeting at the end was atrocious.

                      This ^^^

Plus to have Cersei, one of the most hated (and brilliantly acted) villains killed by a brick was so disappointing. Add to this Drogon burning the Iron Throne and not Jon Snow. The show had such great potential to finish strong; so many great stories to finish off ... it just fizzled.

I refused to pass judgement after the dark fight with the dead ... I think they were fighting, I couldn't really see. I refused to pass judgement after the saviour of men turned into the mad queen in 18.3 secs. But after the show fizzled like that, my judgement is in.

Where is the petition for me to sign ... remake season 8

                        Re: Game of Thrones

GoT doesn't do this, but in any other TV show, if one of the main characters didn't die and with all her weapons was going on a mission to explore the places west of Westeross would come off feeling like there's a spin-off tv show.

By the way, the petition is already online. Some folks in the US started it according to an article I was reading.

Don't be one of those who signs petitions.

I thought the Throne burning was pretty significant. I don't knows the ins and outs of Dragons but I'm pretty sure they're smarter than a normal animal/reptile. My theory was the Dragon knew the damage the throne caused, losing all of it's family because of it so destroyed it. Maybe I read to much into it but I thought it was a pretty sad and powerful moment.

How Mr Snow got out of there alive is something that I question. The Dothraki would stormed through and sliced him up but again reading far too much into it.

Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

                                Straight from George today:

"And I’m writing. Winter is coming, I told you, long ago… and so it is. THE WINDS OF WINTER is very late, I know, I know, but it will be done. I won’t say when, I’ve tried that before, only to burn you all and jinx myself… but I will finish it, and then will come A DREAM OF SPRING.

How will it all end? I hear people asking. The same ending as the show? Different?

Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes."
