Re: What are you watching at the moment
I quite like the US version. It has some great characters and some hilarious moments. When Dwight hits Michael with his shoe as they are driving along is he of the funniest things I've seen. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: What are you watching at the moment
When travelling in Europe the amount of British people who patronisingly explained that I had to like The Office because the David Brent humour made me uncomfortable drove me mad. I mean yeah I get it, but he reminded me too much of a boss that I actually had and I don't like feeling uncomfortable.
British persons - do you like the office?
Me - not as much as you do, the David Brent character makes me uncomfortable, it's a little too close to home
British persons - oh, but that's the entire point
Me - yes, it is, but I don't like feeling uncomfortable
British persons - oh, what do you mean?
Me - I prefer humour to make me laugh
British persons - well you're missing the point
Me - no, I understand the point, I just don't like it
British persons - incredulous looks
I liked Extras and eventually softened on The Office.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Re: What are you watching at the moment
I think as Jeemak has pointed out, they're entirely different beasts, and I can appreciate both of them for their own qualities. I quite like the cringey 'close to home' awkwardness of the British version, but also love the US version for the different direction they took it in. Much more character building stuff and genuine, quality ha-ha stuff.Comment

Surprised Arrested Development is so low on that top 100 list. The first 2 seasons are some of the funniest TV ever created, imo. Gob is one of my favourite characters ever (I’ve made a huge mistake). Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Re: What are you watching at the moment
I'd argue it should be there if the list is taking into account cultural impact (it's a huge show and even if it's done ironically at the expense of the show/fans who here hasn't made a bazinga joke?) but the list does say greatest shows so I have to agree that it being there is a travesty[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Comment
