Shaun Marsh is currently 66no and given he had an 80 in the first innings I can't see the selectors dropping him
You can just about lock him in for the first test

Maxwell has to turn them into centuries , Marsh doesn’t.
I think it points to the fact Marsh isn’t up to international cricket but can play state cricket well . Alas the selectors will say he is back in form.
We gambled going into the game with just 5 batsman but it's worked out due to the good start Harris and Dean made and of course a solid century from Handscomb. Pattinson's 32 helped Handscomb through a difficult period

Vics won the toss and sent Tassie in and promptly bowled them out for 81.
Tremain got 5 wickets, Boland and Pattinson 3.
SA made 251 in their first innings with Travis Head making a score in the 80's. Jhye Richardson took 5 wickets
Lehmann, Ferguson and Weatherald all failed with the bat
WA are 5 for 89 and both Marsh brothers failed to make their mark. Daniel Worrall has 4 wickets
NSW made 279 with Henriques top scoring with 152. QLD 5 for 132 in response. Renshaw and Burns failed and Labuschagne made a 50.

Vics somewhat failed to take a stranglehold on the game and finished day one at 5 for 148. Dean run out and Harris and Handscomb failed to press for test selection.
SA have a nice first innings lead against WA but have collapsed in the 2nd innings to be 5 for 94.
Weatherald, Ferguson, Head and Lehmann failed to impress the selectors and are all out for not much
NSW got a small first innings lead against QLD and Michael Neser nearly got them a lead but was out of for score in the 60's. I think he has made 3 consecutive half centuries with the bat. Lyon got 4 wickets

Sheffield Shield leading run scorers (including the current round) makes for interesting reading:
-Alex Doolan: 444 runs at 55.5 (1 century, 4 50s)
-Matthew Wade: 412 runs at 82.4 (1 century, 4 50s)
-Marcus Harris: 393 runs at 98.25 (1 century, 1 50s) - stats are skewed by a 250*
-Tom Cooper: 392 runs at 56 (2 centuries)
-Shaun Marsh: 362 runs at 120.66 (1 century, 2 50s).
Doolan is an interesting one. He's made some runs against good attacks this year opening the batting, but only averaged 32 in the Shield last year. He's the kind of player who gets in really hot runs of form and makes a heap of runs but goes through big troughs.
Wade is starting to make a really good case as a batsman too - he's still only 30, an experienced cricketer and averaged 43 last year.
