Outside the line is the dumbest rule in world sport.
LBW is to stop batsmen standing in front of the wicket and blocking the straight ones, apparently that’s what happened before it was introduced.
So outside the line make sense in that context as they’re most likely trying to play a shot ergo not blocking with body.
Terrific from Murphy - I didn't think he was ready but he proved me wrong.
Green and Starc won't be ready for the second test is the word going around. I can't imagine many changes - probably Head in and Renshaw or Warner making way, but it was such a bad loss the selectors could almost drop the whole 11.
Interesting they've gone a second left arm spinner considering Zampa was apparently close to making the squad. Think there may be a feeling Agar was the wrong choice.

It was an interesting selection process for the squad and we never quite make the hard calls.
All of our fears about Warner and Khawaja at the top of the order and if we had enough batsman with the temperament to gut it on a difficult track out all came true. We basically accept that our batsmen will bat the way that they want to not expect them to do what is needed.
The moment I saw Warner practicing batting right handed I suspected he wasn't in the right mindset to succeed and McDonald shouldn't have allowed it.
We allowed a dodgy wicket to dictate the attitude we took into the game and we were as good as defeated before a ball was balled.
Worse still we will write it off as dodgy wicket and not address the way that we batted.
