I'm just unclenching my bum cheeks. Geez!

Stressed after watching that, it's time for Mike Bassett, England Manager. This has to be the funniest film about sport ever.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Geez it was hard work watching us play tonight. I haven't had much of a chance to see us play much of the qualifiers but from what i saw tonight i wasn't impressed at all.

Timmy Cahill not sure about best sportsman ever but best socceroo of all time by the length of the Flemington straight! Cometh the hour, cometh the man should be on his headstone.

Bradman or Dawn Fraser for mine but it's a question worth asking.

            Greatest ever Footballer(soccer) easily.

We are going to really struggle to qualify.

After dominating possession for so long and not being able to score against a lowly ranked Syria is definitely worrying.

Honduras or Panama depending on today's results. We'll struggle mightily to score against Panama. We need Honduras to draw or beat Mexico and Panama to lose to Costa Rica. Either way i see us struggling against either team to be honest.

Lack of goal scorers has been our downfall since the year dot.
Tim Cahill - Western Bulldogs supporter - does it again.

Agreed. The Syrian tie was a real banana skin for us - they have some technically gifted players and they were on a mission for their country.

I really don't like Ange's possession game - what's the point of holding onto the ball in midfield without doing anything remotely dangerous? We play into the opposition's hands more often than not, and our opponents invariably look far more dangerous on the counter-attack. For mine we are simply an ordinary national team - someone like Mooy, who is comfortably our most gifted player, would be little more than a squad player in 2006. All the talk about Ange is missing the point a little - we need to pour money into junior development so that we get another group coming through with the talent of our golden generation of 2006.

It's so frustrating seeing us control the ball in a corner of the ground where it's heavily congested. And do it over and over again. We are a very ordinary team. We need the likes of Rogic, Cruse, Leckie, Troisi etc to step up. 38yo Cahill is still doing all the heavy lifting for us. The previous mentioned names are like PES players. It's like they're not match ready and just enjoy doing some fancy moves at training.

Whats happened to Luongo by the way?

                            Just from SEN

Ange Postecoglou will walk away from his role as Socceroos coach, even if they defeat their CONCACAF playoff opponent to qualify for next year’s World Cup in Russia.

It comes less than 24 hours after two Tim Cahill goals saw the Socceroos sneak by Syria 2-1 after extra time in their Asian World Cup qualifying playoff, to advance to a final inter-continental playoff against the fourth place team from the CONCACAF region - which will be one of Panama, Honduras or the USA.

According to the Herald Sun’s David Davutovic said the 52-year-old would have resigned from the role if the Socceroos had automatically qualified for the 2018 World Cup, and it is believed a trigger for his shock departure is relentless attacks from critics over the team’s form.

Does that mean even if we qualify we now need to get a manager for the World Cup?
Pressure on him must be enormous.

Bit of an upset brewing in the CONCACAF qualifiers. Bottom placed Trinidad and Tobago up 1-0 on USA. Could mean we face USA if one of Panama or Honduras get up.

Honduras down 1-0 to Mexico. Panama 0-0 with Costa Rica. Assuming all scores finish the same we would end up playing Panama.

All games at about the 35 minutes mark.

EDIT: Just as i type, Trinidad and Tobago go up 2-0 and Honduras equalise with Mexico 1-1. We'd still be playing Panama in this case though

EDIT: Goodness. Its all happening! Costa Rica have just gone up 1-0 on Panama but Mexico go up 2-1 on Honduras. Its still Panama at this stage

For those playing at home my edits occurred within 1 minute of each other. I'm not providing live updates
