Re: 2018 AFL -Trade Rumours and Discussion
What if Duryea releases a guy like Williams or Crozier to play further up the field. If Duryea is an upgrade on Biggs a replacement for Suckers then I am ok with this, especially if its a cheap as chips trade on nothing more than a 2 year deal.Comment

A good point on Lloyd. Presuming we can only play say JJ and Crozier as our preferred half backs that still leaves Suckling Lynch Richards Wood and Williams who can all play at half back. I can see Williams becoming a good midfielder with Richards capable of going forward. We have on the other hand a dearth of ruck men and yet are happy to release a Premiership ruck man in Roughead.Comment

Re: 2018 AFL -Trade Rumours and Discussion
afel.com.au reporting Dogs & Lions closer to a deal on Adams after positive dialogue. Suspected pick swap of some sort they guess.
Something like their 23 for 45? No other pick swap would be even near worth it. But then assuming Khamis went after 23, we’d only have pick 63 or about 100 draft points. Not nearly enough. A pick swap is hard to see, unless there’s future trading to nab one of their 40’s picks.
... unless the club rates Duryea and we get him trading 27 for their 35 or some unholy trade. That would cover Khamis around 40-45 after FS & academy bids. Thereby covering both West & Khamis, keeping 7, Pick 63 as cover & grabbing Duryea.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Or GWS pick 14 and 43 for 23 and 27 is about equal on points. Gives them 3 picks in the early 20s to help offset the talent they're losing. Gives us 7, 14, 43 and 63. Two 1st round picks. Add something from Collingwood for Rough to help us one points (they have 3 picks in the 50s so they only delist 2 players they'll have one spare in 57). We've then got points worth pick 29. Maybe a little short but I can wear a deficit if it puts us in a good position. And maybe there's some maneuvering we can do with late picks to compensate for that.
That said not entirely sure GWS would bite. Alternatively we can look at swapping later into the 1st round with Richmond or Collingwood. Hard to see someone earlier in the order being interested.
In summation:
OUT: Adams, 45 27
IN: 14(ish), 43(ish)
If we converted Adams and Dahl into a 1st round pick and the currency for West and Khamis does the period look a little better? That's 4 solid looking draftees there.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Comment

Re: 2018 AFL -Trade Rumours and Discussion
That's correct, I suppose for us given we are after points Brisbane's picks 41 and 45 are better value than pick 32
The other option is if we are actually committed 100% committed to Khamis and if we might have someone else in mind at pick 32 if that was available.
We tend to have a very specific shopping list and even last year we had Cal Porter in our sights with our 3rd pick at number 73.
There are a few other options available to us including going into deficit next year to acquire Khamis or trading Adams for a future pick rather than one for this year.
If we come away with one of B.King/Rozee/Smith/Hately then West and Khamis and maybe another player from the draft after acquiring Lloyd and Duryea as trades we might consider that a decent effort.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Williams and Richards in particular are going to hold a lot of value even or forward of the ball next season. The former in my view will have a huge season if fit as a floating HBF-HFF. As far as our list is concerned he's the one I have pinned as the best developer and most likely to become elite.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Thats a bit sad. May is there for the taking and we either aren't of interest to him or we can't be bothered.
LLoyd and Duryea are alright foot soldiers, but I'd love us to be able to sign a big fish at this time of year. The curse is dead.Comment
