It's downright annoying that they continue to pluck good players from other clubs at will whilst we can only ever land discarded fringe players.
But they do so in lieu of drafting above average players.. Will be interesting to see if their method gives them ultimate success, but having lost their last 4 finals I feel it's dangerous road they're heading down.

It worked previously but that was a period when the expansion clubs had taken all the young talent. Might not be as easy with drafts that are less compromised. I genuinely don’t have an opinion on it either way but it’s going to be interesting.

      Would love Tom Scully.

Interesting that GWS would offload him after he's signed a reduced contract. Is his ankle that bad?

If Scully goes with Lobb & Shiel they must have the cash to keep Kelly.

            How is this possible???

Reports are emerging that the Hawks are trying to bring Chad Wingard, Tom Scully and Gold Coast youngster Jack Scrimshaw without the need to sacrifice Ryan Burton.

It would seem we either don't have third party arrangements or have no confidence in our ability to conceal them.

I think Axe Man might be talking about how they physically trade for them. Magic beans?

He'd be just as well retiring as soon as we call out his name and save himself the cost of moving house.

You'd suspect Hawthorn would be interested given the success they've had with Burgoyne and more recently with O'meara.

I think that shows you how cynical I am about it all then .

Aren't they in breach of the trade rules? I read somewhere you must use two first round picks in the draft every four years (i think that was the rule ). By trading 15 to Port for Chad and future picks to GWS for Scully they breach this rule don't they?

I think you are correct about the rule but according to this article: Cats first round requirements, only Geelong and Collingwood face any restrictions with 2018 and 2019 first round picks.

I think Burton was a first round pick in 2015 which probably saves them. You would think they need a first round pick in 2019 though.

But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Its an interesting one he will be 27 early next year and our list isn't quite in the sweet spot yet. After missing out on the Chad I'm keen to keep pick 7 this year but maybe a future first rounder would be on the table?

I still think it all hinges on Hogan, the May crew are just using us as leverage I reckon.
