Re: The Chad Thread
There is a real specific reason PA want to trade up...it is effectively a trade for Pick 1+2 since it seems Carlton have committed to the Falcons kid mid-year...they want the 2x SA kids and they are going to have to pay for them. What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment

And if that pans out would the Suns then consider our #7 for Chad?BORDERLINE FLYINGComment

Re: The Chad Thread
All in all, i think the trade that gave Port pick 6 is good for our chances of getting Chad.Comment

Re: The Chad Thread
GC won't want Chad. They're restarting a rebuild. So why not just trade pick 7 with Port and then let Port and GC work it out?Comment

Re: The Chad Thread
A part from media assuming we are getting Chad with pick 7. The only path Port have to get close to picks 2 & 3 is with our pick 7. Hawks pick 15 & 2019 1st isn’t close to the frame for 2 & 3 off GCS. If Port are going at 2 & 3, that almost rules Hawthorn out as another destination. It really seems Port or us. Maybe 67/33 to us if they want Luko & Rankine.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: The Chad Thread
In essence GCS get 5,6,7, 10, possibly the Polec pick 11.
Port get their prized 2 & 3
Dogs get Wingard
Melbourne get May
Freo gets Hogan
Brisbane gets Neale
A threat in all of this is if St.Kilda makes a play for Wingard, dangling their pick 4 to Port and of course who starts throwing around first round future picks e.g Hawthorn to get in the gameComment

Re: The Chad Thread
Are Saints a potential to try and jump in and make a play for Wingard?
They've got an earlier pick and need to land some talent?Comment

Re: The Chad Thread
They spoke to Wingard or his manager early on apparently. They decided to chase other players after the meeting. I'm guessing they were told, 'not even for two million a year'.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: The Chad Thread
Chad is certainly looking like the pawn in Port’s plans in this off-season.
He’s done well to date to hold his tongue, with Port putting it all back on him.
Behind the scene it’s probably playing out as:
Cripps: Chad we want you to go to St.Kilda!
Chad: No F... way. I want to go to Hawthorn with Imps and Burgs
Cripps: They’ve got nothin we want.
Chad: How about I just stay at Port, close to my family.
Cripps: There’s no cash here. Here there’s no cash. Cash no, Chaddo.
Besides there’s 2 gun SA kids we prefer over you. How about the Dogs then? Jackson’s there. Why don’t you meet up with Bevo?Last edited by Doc26; 11-10-2018, 01:53 PM.Comment

Re: The Chad Thread
Call my cynical, but I have a thought. The AFEL has changed the trade period so it finishes in prime time TV. Any tv producer would tell the AFEL that you need a big suspense, big names to attract people to watch it with white knuckles. And with their viewers attention, advertise the shit out of it for profit. A last second Josh Schache trade isn't impressive enough a debut tv opportunity for them. To make this a money maker, they need a big name or three running into the trade room at AFEL house at the last second. Maybe the AFEL have identified Wingard and Port and Port with GCS and GCS with May as their finale, proving that their concept works. The deals might be done in secret, but this suspense feels like an audience is being primed and every story guessing different outcomes is stoking the interest. I may well be wrong, but I'm pretty good with smelling AFEL manipulation bullshit.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment
