After reading about all these players wanting out at clubs , how good are we going as a club ? no big names wanting out, admittedly Khamis is looking around but he is a fringe player with us and that’s normal .

The club must have a great culture, players are happy and also see us being a premiership chance in the coming years .

All the talk about Bevos time being up at the start of the year by the press has been proven wrong.
We can argue we didn’t make finals etc between ourselves but our club is extremely united .
i look at our VFL team and the re-signing of our AFLW coach , I do believe we are a club in great hands and going in to bigger and better things .
60k members and are becoming a go to club by players .

Yes totally agree. I would also like to highlight that we seem to not have any off field problems taking up valuable time and resources away from the footy department

      well done dogs
      BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

Without really analysing other clubs, we've probably had the most big names leave in the last few years?

Marra this year, Baz last year, Dunkley three years ago. Macrae and Daniel probably in the category of some of the names being discussed this year.

I understand your point, we've had lots re-sign, but I think we've been as bad as anyone for having big names want out in recent times.

Did you read my post ? It was about this year and how that hasn’t happened and it’s a good sign the club is in good hands , no big name disgruntled players wanting out.
Pretty much pointing out it’s different to previous seasons .

Back to the premise - Tylar Young. Just go and get him. Do what it takes.

Now that Silvagni is out of the picture, this would be the perfect trade period for us:

IN - Jordan Butts, Tylar Young
OUT - Buku (I don't want to lose him but if it means we can bring in those guys, all power to him.)

Both players would plug and play into our back 6 immediately alongside Lobb as our three key defenders. And while they play, Buss and JOD can continue to develop and either a) earn their place in the AFL side by overtaking one of those three guys or b) they aren't good enough and then we'll be glad we fixed our key defender stocks by attacking trade targets.

We must ALSO understand that we might have have a Liam Jones 2.0 situation next year with Lobb. He'll be 33 years old next year. There is no sign of him slowing down but we said the same about Jones 12 months ago and age can strike down players really quickly. So our three key backs by the end of 2026 could be Butts, Buss/JOD and Young. 2 very solid lock down key position players and an athletic intercepting tall.

Not really - I mean I get what you're saying but not many clubs lose midfielders of their calibre. TWICE!

And has it really affected us? Nope.

Um. Baz is exactly what we are missing and Kennedy, albeit a good player is Dunkley lite.

Eh? In our system he was maybe the WORST of the lot when it came to getting bulldozed by an opposition midfield.

You dont think we need speed on the outside?

Not really? It's nice to have, if you're talking in the center square then tbh I'd consider Ed an upgrade on paper since he's also a better user of the ball once he has it on the outside. Bont is also faster than he seems.

It doesn't matter how fast they are anyway if they've run forward as the ball is moving in the opposite direction.
