Do you think the fact we are not playing in September this year had brought us back to the field a little.

Players want to play finals and maybe they look at us and think others are closer to it than us.

We don’t have dick heads like Steven May belting people, we have a very good and respected coach, we have Bont, we have great training felicitates
    BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

Players want money, it’s proven time and time again that money (and role, security ie money for longer…) wins out.

All these guys leave shit clubs under the guise of success and take the highest offer.

im glad we didn’t chase Silvagnis st kilda offer that was way over the top in the end - 900k is absurd. But at some point we do need to overpay and actually use some of our cap to upgrade the list. I like the sound of targeting younger, still developing players who we see potential in and overpaying based on our projections of them - easiest way for a club like us to bring in quality where their heads can be turned by their first big pay check, when we can’t land the top liners.

It is an indication of how people in the real world outside the club feel about how the club is going. Need a period of consistent success, and finishing in the middle of the ladder never counts as success.

Spot on GG. Can't stand Baz off field but on field damn he is so what we need.

Dunkley is #Life - I still have not forgiven jennak for moving him on.

I don't think finals has anything to do with it.

Simply put we need to pay well above market rates to attract players who will make a difference (this includes role players such as Silvagni.)

We have very rarely offered a huge deal to any players to come to the club. The last one was Tom Boyd.
I am hoping we do for Butters - will make a huge difference.

Silvangi would have been a good get at $650 but I am happy the club didn't get in a bidding war for a guy that has average 10 games a year.

The market(3 different clubs) set his value at around $2.5 Mil and the saints paid him $4+Mil. I am no list manager but paying someone 20-25% over market value seems bad for business.

We're not screwing around. $4.5m over 4 years for Wilkie, on the table.

Maybe this was the plan all along.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

No way we get a return on him across 4 years he'll be 30 before the start of next season.

However, if we get two high quality years out of him and win a flag then that's money well spent.

What would he be on now? 700?

                          Mate that'd be perfect.

Worth every cent IMO - $1.125m a season for a known quantity in his prime who hardly misses a game is perfect on every level. Will still be very close to his prime at the end of this contract. We seriously contend for the next 3 years if we get his signature alone.

He was a late starter to the AFEL and is more lightly raced than other 29yo. He will still be elite at 33-34yo

This is our shot at a Brian Lake moment. He was 31yo when Hawthorn got him
