Wilkie hasn't missed a game for a few years now.

I think we miss out but hopefully we get someone like Tylar Young.

At the very least we're being bold.

      Fair call I'm all in.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Yes please. Instant class, A+ player. Great leadership in the backline and generally. Young defenders develop and absorb around him. Add a classy younger medium defender and suddenly we've no excuse to not be top 8-(system tweaks permitting).

If Ross Lyon gives him the irrits as much as he does me I think we're a great chance.
I would be deadset rapt if this happened.

I would be all for it but there's zero chance Saints trade their best defender, who is contracted for 2 more years, when they have just spent big dollars to re-sign NWM and attract TDK and JSOS (with more to come).

Hope we are using this tactically to entice a more realistic target and not wasting much time on this specifically.

Agree, I can't see it happening. Wilkie also being considered as the next captain, however, he seemed a little pissed off that players coming in on big dollars compared to current players.

After Gryfen left and Toyd came in I learnt that anything is possible.

I'm really keen on Tyler Young with the advantage of him being cheaper than Wilkie, 2 years younger and wouldn't cost our first rounder + change to grab him.

Very little exposed form but the games he played back from his ACL were very promising. Can actually win one on ones and quick for his height.

I genuinely think if we got him in, he'd play round 1 next year.

                        We could use them both.

I haven’t commented much just reading mainly but I’m very happy we are looking at getting some defenders in.

We need a defender who is just much better 1 on 1 than we currently have. Cal Wilkie is a very good player and would certainly be an upgrade down there if we did get him.

Another midfielder would be nice - all roads leading to Zak Butters

A small forward as well. Liam Ryan is one but it look like the Saints will get him.

Going to a be a big trade period coming for us. Sam Power will have a lot of work to do.

I’m not a huge fan of the links to Erasmus or any depth midfielder, it’s Butters or go with what we’ve got IMO

Key defender obviously the big ticket, interestingly Wilkie & Ridley who are the A grade types we’ve heard so far are at their best as your 3rd key more intercept defender, but can both play as the primary tall. Butts & Young are more the dour defend first, then defend some more types.

I agree. I put up a post in a Tigers forum at my footy club whatsapp group and asked if the Dogs could target any player from Richmond that wasn't a young gun or a washed up 30+ year old (using MJPs want we haven't got theorem), who would you choose and all agreed that Young was exactly what the Dogs need.

Go get Bodhi Uwland from GC. Ideal small defender. Tough and, well, bloody tough. Averages 5 marks and 15 disposals per game. Contracted until 2026 but talk to him now, turn his head with money and get him now. If not now, then 2026. Just get him!
