    Re: 2018 Draft Watch

Thoughts on is taking Ben King if he is available at our pick?

I think it would be a good move. Ben King could take on gorilla forwards (we have no-one to do this) and possibly swing forward.

We'll be a bottom 6 crap team for the next 2 seasons, so we can pick up some gun mids then.

I am looking forward to finals again (and making an impact) in 2021.
The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.

King would be a great selection albeit not meeting our short term needs.
I certainly dont agree with your assessment that we will be a crap team for the next 2 years

        Re: 2018 Draft Watch

The top of the orderl ooks pretty strong this year but after that I think it falls short of the superdraft label it was given earlier in the year. Walsh, Lukosius, Rankine, Smith and the King brothers are a strong top 6. Blakey is around, the mark and then there are players like Rozee and Hately with a bolter like McFadyen as well. The challenge for us is how we acquire West given our lack of a 2nd round pick

We have plenty of positional needs so we will need to be creative with how we position ourselves.

I don’t why but I just have a gut feel that we (our recruitment personnel) will completely stuff up this year’s trade/draft period and will leave me scratching my head....I can feel another “Howard” coming on.
I will never see #16 the same!!

Can't go too wrong with pick 5, lot's of good players around the mark.

I hope so Bornadog...I really do.

I’m fully in the Rankine corner, but know I’ve got more chances of winning powerball this week than him getting to us. I love the look of Rozee, and hope he is our selection.

What I think will happen is....

              Rankine to GC
One of the Kings to us
              Rozee to crows

The way the AFL is going with PP we may end up outside the top 10

I'm not sure how we could stuff this up, the trick is more about how we position ourselves for the balance of the draft. Austin will do well and Power seems very focused. I'm confident we will do well but I do wish they had a pick or two more in the top 30

Most is being just being speculated. GC need to be compenstated for Lynch and if Carlton, StKilda and GC do get priority picks it will most likely be at the end of the first round which won't impact our first pick.

We will lose about 100 draft points though in just PP's if three teams get end of first rounders. If they're going to throw PP's around like confetti, they should at a minimum keep every teams draft points in tact beyond them. Those teams benefit, while a team like us with West & Khamis to bid on will suffer a mild punishment at the same time.

                        Agreed,

We will need to be a bit creative to get our priorities this year

Apparently Rozee is spending alot of time with Eddie Betts who is mentoring him. Pretty sure he wants to play with the Crows.

                            That’s Rankine doing that

The obvious answer is by trading players out for second round selections. It's not going to be popular but if we think that having West and Khamis on the list makes it better than having the players we trade out then it's a no-brainer.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
