    Re: 2019 Draft Watch

Is it weird that I'm looking at Caleb Serong and wondering why our supporters are keen on him? Tough inside mid with high endurance but average speed isn't exactly something we're crying out for and he seems like someone that pinch-hits in the forward line as opposed to being a genuine small forward.

I can get behind Kemp since he's a super talent who could slide to 15 due to his ACL and I'm wanting either Weightman or Pickett as that genuine small forward. I'm also for taking Bergman because he seems to be projected as an attacking wing/HHF which is an area that we can use.

It's also bugging me that people want Bianco; yeah I was impressed with him also and he clearly has a ton of talent but he's basically a Caleb Daniel clone and enough people whine about having one shortass mid/defender.

You're obviously checking other sites more than here

Serong has barely rated a mention here from what I can recall. Yep, he is slow but has very good agility and I still think he is a good footballer.
Re Bianco, he's not getting a lot of mentions here but I don't see much in the Daniel comparison you have made.

What are your thoughts on Worrell?

There were enough ready to criticise us for taking PREMIERSHIP PLAYER Caleb Daniel at the time. I am happy to back in our recruiters and if they think that we need more class on the list then we probably need more class on the list.

You can't have enough good footballers on your list. I know I read it on a matchbox once. It's like one of those rules that are set in stone.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

          Re: 2019 Draft Watch

This from Fox AFL Matt Balmer

PICK 15: WESTERN BULLDOGS – MILES BERGMAN

          Clubs: Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro

          Position: Medium Forward

          Size: 189cm, 83kg

Bio: Bergman has remarkably had to deal with shin splints throughout the majority of 2019, at times hardly training ahead of matches. He has been one of the biggest risers in the second-half of the year, following a solid Under 18 Championships. He can play right across the ground, but looks his best at the attacking end. It was his four goal and 18 disposal performance against Geelong towards the latter part of the year that really caught the eye, while his impact with the ball in hand is always noticed by club recruiters. Bergman can break the lines and has a future role at AFL level.

In the mix: The Bulldogs met with Cody Weightman over the last 72 hours, while Trent Bianco is another name which continues to be linked for the Dogs. However, rival clubs think the Weightman meeting is somewhat of a smokescreen, given how much effort has gone into Bergman is recent months. Pickett is the red-hot favourite to be taken here if the Demons don’t select him.

Passing over Kemp for Bergman. Really?

I know that Bevo would love him; tall mobile KPP that can play as an intercept defender, up forward and can rotate through the middle. He's not a player that we desperately need but our key defender stocks aren't amazing so he'd be a pretty potent pick up.

Yeah I'd be peeved if we passed over Kemp. Dude will take longer to make an impact but he's absolutely a quality talent.

This mock has Kemp sliding to Geelong?

                  WOW.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Mocks always have Geelong making out like bandits.

Could you imagine in 2 or 3 years time having Ugle-Hagan at one end and Worrell at the other?

Worell trained with us last year, so to that end we probably have an interest in him more than most (and know a little more intimate knowledge about him).

I can’t really see us going wrong with any of Weightman, Pickett, Bergman, or Worrell if they are the best left at our pick. But I would be reluctant to pass on Kemp.

I don't get how we could and still use the best available tag

And even mentions him potentially getting to their second pick at 19.

I wonder whether the clubs have had a look at his knee and have some concerns about it long term? That's the only thing I could think of that would warrant him sliding that far.
