The stupid thing is though, I don't think it is like this at all (even though that is pretty funny).

The draft hasn't happened yet but the Twomey mock is usually on the money so I am already getting agitated. My issue is that they just want to be 'smarter' than the person next to them. To me, this years draft looks pretty straight forward and yet none of the 'mocks' are making it seem that way. There is ONE wildcard - Kemp. He is coming off an ACL and there are two recent precedents for this:

      - Stringer (broken leg, top 10).
      - Burton (broken leg, end of first round).

Both seem to have had pretty much 'solid' careers anyway and whilst I agree the whole 'increased chance of acl re-occurance numbers would give me pause, given Stringer and Burton I would take him anyway.

Things that are amazing to me right now:

1/. Why would Melbourne not bid on Greene and make GWS at least SWEAT.
2/. Why would Sydney or Adelaide NOT bid on Henry and make Freo pay the price.

There are zero guarantees in the draft and both of these guys are as likely to be 'top 10' picks in the long term as whoever the alternatives are.

      What else?

Apparently Melbourne believe Jackson is a generational player and therefore they will pick him and play him as a forward. This is STUPID. He is a ruckman. The last ruckman picked this high was Nic Nat who has zero premierships, zero B+F wins and whilst he is really entertaining (and even dominant at times), he is the Joel Embid of the AFL and simply doesn't play well enough, often enough to be worth it. They SHOULD (given GC's plan) take either Robertson (the best player) or the best fit for their club - an outside runner (ASH).

Speaking of Gold Coast, whilst I wouldn't do what they are doing - I would take Jackson and Robertson - at least they have a plan that everyone in the club is on board with.

      Other mock draft fails:
      - Freo. Taking two Victorian kids at 7+8 with a full-house of local kids? Adam Cera and Brayshaw over Naughton? How's that working out for you???

      - Adelaide. Taking McAsey over Stephens? Why - when everyone leaves your club - would you do that? Have you learned nothing? Take Stephens. He is going to be good. McAsey *MIGHT* be amazing...but then again, so was Lever...he plays for Melbourne now.

      - Pickett at pick 11? This SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I know we have all talked ourselves into the highlight reel by now, but pick 11?

      - Bergman, Weightman and De Koning over Worrell? Again, this SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I'm a massive Stephens fan - seems like a sure fire player in the modern era - good tank, seems to have a fifth gear in terms of speed and is a good kick - he wins the speedy outside play maker I recruit

Nakia Cockatoo mk 2 who seemed to jump up the draft rankings after one game.

You rate Worrell highly - above Weightman? Would you playing as a tallish rebounder? Interesting prospect.

MJP - I like Northam. Had a good friend there. Good times. Good luck to young Devon.

                Re: 2019 Draft Watch

AFEL Draft Radio this arvo with Cody Weightman:

Riley Beveridge: "Which clubs are interested in you (Cody Weightman)?"

Weightman: "The Dogs are the main one." ... "(Dogs) The only planned visit (of a club facilities)."

He lit up when saying 'The Dogs'. Seems like he'd be over the moon to get to our club.

But I don't get Weightman either.

He is one of those leading forwards in a small forwards body. He isn't Stevie Milne. He is more a Jamie Elliot type to me. I don't know what that gets you...even Brad Johnson - the best at that role I have EVER seen - wasn't good enough to get our side over the line in finals. Can Weightman be a mid? Maybe, but ultimately who cares when it seems like you could get Kemp at the same spot.

Yes, I would take Worrell over Weightman. He would start out as a mobile defender who could play on pretty much anyone and might end up as Harry Taylor.

Talk of him falling out of the top 10 is ridiculous. The clubs can't get out of their own way. They have a 200-game midfielder looking them in the eyes and they can't figure out that 1+1=2. If he is there at 13 (or 14, or 15 or whenever our pick finally is) when he goes on to captain Geelong to a premiership I am so going to say 'I told you so'...I might even take out advertising space to do it.
I wouldn't have thought there were negatives being discussed but I agree that he shouldn't fall out of the top 10 but I'd be delighted if he were to somehow land at the Kennel

I think the fact that some clubs over think things is the only reason why he could possibly slide

I have enough trouble trying to predict our own line-ups this season by our MC than to even attempt to work out what other clubs might do
Almost a month after I listed the 20 players above I still wouldn't make many changes.
I've got Maginness wrong and McAsey should be earlier and I wonder if I've underrated Gould but it's still very much how I see the quality of the players

Was full first round last year, believe itÂ’s the same this year.

Cheers AshMac. I'm really looking forward to seeing who we get-it's a bit like Christmas.

At least the last few have been with English, Naughton and Smith being added to the list-even back to the Bont and Lippa and Daniel and La Young and Le Young-we've been making out like Mexican bandits at the draft for nearly a decade now.
