Re: 2020 draft watch
Should this thread be renamed '2020 Jamarra watch'?
Going to be a very interesting draft with the number of Academy players currently predicted to be selected. A lot can change over the course of the year, but I assume the additional support/opportunity academy players receive holds them in good stead to continue to improve.Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?Comment

Re: 2020 draft watch
I am hoping the same kindness that was extended to the clubs this year (who had NGA’s) is extended to us next year. Aside Carlton, who pissed in Freo and GWS’s fire, clubs didn’t bid on players that they no doubt would have taken higher up. Why?
I think it definitely has got a lot to do with psychology. Do you want your draftee to think they were a backup plan? Melbourne and Sydney certainly didn’t (knowing full well the bids were going to be matched anyway) so made it somebody else’s problem. Add to that you don’t want to trash relationships with clubs that you may need to trade players/picks with.
Hopefully there are a handful of other players that really set the world on fire and JUH may be a sneaky chance to get to 10+ before another club takes one for the team. Odds on it will be Essendon.Comment

Being a KPF and therefore a rare asset, clubs will be more willing to bid on him than on an inside mid (Green, Maginness) or small forward (Henry) which are a) more easily attainable through out the draft and b) may not actually be a need for some clubs. Gun KPFs are always in fashion.
He's also a Vic kid, so clubs will be seeing more of him throughout the season. I think GWS and Freo benefited from the fact that their kids were more unknown than Marra will be next year. Playing for Oakleigh with that stacked line up means he'll have scouts from just about every team watching each week.
And finally, if Marra even kind of lives up to the hype of being the next Buddy, the optics/narrative of letting that kind of talent slide too far means a club will likely bite early.
My gut feel is we'll end up needing a top 3 pick as a minimum if we want any chance of getting in before a bid.Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Not so sure about Luke Edwards. Will watch with interest next season. Is extremely silky but I’m not convinced his efforts match his ability Nor maybe his ego. Happy to be proven wrong.Comment
