    Re: 2021 draft watch

Well if we're looking at later draft types and have a list spot free:

Will Spain (178cm, 69kg from Sturt)
Spain is an interesting player from a draft perspective, he won't come into calculations early yet I'd back him as a safe pick for a long career. Sometimes it seems like the coaches even forget about him a bit, as he seemingly isn't in the midfield mix for SA and will be forced to find a home across half forward. What sets him apart though is he's such a smart player - he can rack up the touches in the midfield, distribute the ball from in close and versatile enough to have an impact in the forward half. But if you want to know what to expect from Spain, between rounds 12 to 14 this year he recorded a massive 46 tackles. In 3 games.

Josh Cripps - Partrick's younger brother.
199cm overager coming off an ACL. WA. I know little about him but he just reads like the kind of late selection the Bulldogs normally consider. The last WA kid coming off an ACL we drafted has done alright.

No Cody Raak. Ranked 36 in NAB League SuperCoach points and Vic Metro member.

I wonder if we see enough a year on for a either a very late pick or Cat B spot?

In terms of risk/reward, a Cat B spot seems a no brainer.

We'll know if there is a separate state combine release soon. He's right under our noses and was touted as a potential mid-season draft pick so he must be on the radar

I'm looking at Gold Coast's plethora of late picks and sense an opportunity. Brisbane as well (Richmond will probably cut hard this year so will use most/all of their picks)

WA had a good win over SA. Based on the trends, I think it’s going to be hard to see Vic Metro & maybe Vic Country playing champs again this year. Going to make drafting a little harder again from the Vic prospects.

Because he looks SO untidy - doesn't look like an athlete or a footballer. But somehow just wins one on ones and dominates games. Hard to describe but he's a really talented footballer...

The Van Rooyen selection amuses me most - he's really only played 2x games at CHB (the champs games vs SA) yet somehow plays there in the toty? I don't know why I get frustrated with stuff like this since he mails it in every year but I can't help it.

Picking a team based on what your friends in the recruiting world tell you vs picking a team based on what you have seen are simply not the same thing.
