And with Treloar and Libba on the way out, and Garcia just not being classy enough I reckon his inside opportunities will come quicker than some think. He just needs to get stronger and leaner this preseason like he did last.

We just need to coach the shit out of him and he'll return the favour, either by sticking with us or getting good enough to command a raft of good picks for his services. Hopefully his line coach hammers into him the fact he got lucky in not missing out on finals due to his late season lapses, and that he just can't afford to not be super fit and able to carry form throughout a full year as a third year player.

We ask a lot of young blokes these days, guys like Daicos and Sheezel have ruined it for everyone else (even if they did get to run about in defence in their first years racking up easy stats)!
Yep agree, I guess the stress is.
Does he become better than nice, and we loose him.
We keep him, and he doesn't.
Lots to play out, but he is a good kid, I hope it works out for him either way.

What was the knock on Curtin? IIRC was he only playing as a defender?

He's the one that's hard to understand why we passed up. Early days Curtin was projected as top 5 but kept slipping, but he's bigger, faster, stronger, more versatile and a penetrating kick.

I know on exposed form Sanders went where he was anticipated to, but given clubs love the Curtin types, I find it interesting he slid a little.

Flight risk IIRC. It was he either goes early after West Coast trade pick 1 to North or it became a question of how far he slides.

He was meant to definitely be sacking whoever drafted him to go back to WA. Also there was a bit of talk about him not really having a position.

He did play some midfield. Some of of the phantom drafts had him going to North because the needed key defenders.
He's just a good all round player. I can't recall any knock on him.

              Yep to all this.

Curtin was always a highly regarded talent. I can only expect the imminent Baz departure created that need for a mid as we were getting Croft as a taller player.

                    With 7 possible delistings,

I would expect 2-3 get delisted, while we likely lose Khamis in a trade and I assume JUH comes off our list as well?

so leaves us at 38 list spots.

I suspect we will trade for around 3 experienced players and yes we will likely lose Khamis and we should lose Ugle-Hagan.
After some rookie upgrades we will only open up enough spots to draft 2 or 3 players.

2-3 makes sense with the “weaker” draft expected, we only have picks 10 & 28 currently, if we walk into the draft with our 1st, I still think we can grab someone to play as much as Hynes did this year.

then I assume just some other talent and then Will Darcy as a F/S

Adam Treloar is on the verge of signing a new one-year deal with the Dogs in coming weeks in a move sure to thrill club supporters given his popularity as a 2024 All Australian.

Treloar will play in the VFL preliminary final against Box Hill this weekend after being overlooked for the round 24 AFL clash against Fremantle given his injury concerns.

Talks have been progressing in recent weeks and while the Dogs have yet to lock him away if he can get through the final unscathed he is set to play on next year.

He tore his calf six times this season and every time he believed he was on top of his injury he suffered a recurrence.

But after 40 possessions in 80 minutes in his first VFL game he followed it up with 35 possessions in the qualifying final win over Frankston.

The Dogs on Monday missed out on trade target Neil Erasmus when he signed a three-year deal at the Dockers.

But all signs point to a positive resolution for the Dogs on Treloar, who are still to make decisions on the futures of Jason Johannisen and Liam Jones.

Treloar spoke on his podcast recently about how football had always been a saviour for him through a childhood where his mother worked hard to provide for him.

“Footy has always been my saving grace. It’s got me out of a life of poverty growing up.

“It’s given me an opportunity to set up my family, meet great people, have great experiences in my life I don’t think I ever would have had and that’s all been thanks to footy.

“To still be as passionate as I am and to still love the game like I do and want to be out there with my teammates and have success with them, to not be out there for reasons you don’t know why …. I don’t know why. I do everything right. I do everything possible for my body. That is where it really hurts me.”

Former Adelaide and Geelong player Josh Jenkins said last week he would not offer Treloar a new deal.

I wouldn’t,” Jenkins said on SEN.

“They are not winning a premiership on the back of Treloar being in or out of the team. No chance. You’ve got to find out about (Ryley) Sanders around the ball. You’ve got to give (Joel) Freijah the opportunity. He’s still playing out on the wing, he’s going to be an inside mid. Treloar just gets in the way.”
