Re: WOOF - Official Phantom Draft #1 (4 Rounds)

Just a bit of info about my picks:

        Pick 29: Mitch Duncan
It was a battle between Christensen and Duncan. I liked Christensen's potential to play as a small forward, something the Crows could do with. I ended up taking a punt on Ah Chee still being available at 45 and taking who I thought I was the better player.

Duncan seems like a solid all-round runner and should fit in well with the Crows young fleet of runners.

        Pick 45: Roland Ah Chee
As mentioned above, I was looking at getting a player with the potential to play as a small forward and Ah Chee seems worth the punt at 45. Like Jetta, he has the potential to add explosiveness to the side and could fit in well with Tippett, Porps and Burton (for as along as he is around anyway).

Like Jetta, he comes with an AFL ready bonus, which is handy to a side that could be a contender.

Are we doing the 4th round?

          Melbourne

          Pick 50 Josh Thomas

If we're not, then just disregard this. Either way that's Melbourne done.

Re: WOOF - Official Phantom Draft #1 (4 Rounds)

I picked 2 tall defenders with my last 2 selections. Astbury from North Ballarat can take a good grad, leads well when playing forward, but is more predisposed to play in defence.

Luff, looks like a potential full back, has a good pair of hands & doesn't lack when the ball hits the ground.

GVGjr do we need to message Jasper to come on and make a selection?

Ball carrying defender with good athletic ability and very effective foot skills. Good size for the role he plays and plenty of scope for physical development. Generally makes good decisions and has good vision also. I personally like the way he is always holding the ball as though ready to dispose of it, reminds me of Lindsay Gilbee in this aspect and it is a good trait to have - keeps the opposition guessing. He's a left footer but you wouldn't know so because he's also very good on his non-preffered right.

Pretty well picked him under the 'best available' theme, after pick 20 had passed I had my eye on Moore, Bastinac, Griffiths, Menzel, Duncan and Jasper, so when I returned online this morning it was an easy choice. If Rocco hadn't selected Mitch Duncan just before me it might have been a bit more difficult.
I would have selected him at 23 if I had any other club but West Coast have dozens of flankers and real holes in other places.

I'm all finished up & will provide a review of my 6 selections later.

This is the first time I participated in one of these & I really enjoyed it.

Thanks to whoever organised it & to the good folk on other forums who's phantom drafts were the source of much scrutiny on my part.

A big raspberry to Rocco Jones who selected Roland Ar Chee right from under my nose late on!
