Callum Bartlett had a season ending knee injury which has seen him slip a fair way. Prior to this year he was touted as a possible Top 10 pick and it's easy to see why. Bartlett is an outside midfielder but might be able to offer something across half back/half forward too. I personally rate him higher than Christensen and so Essendon would be rapt if Bartlett was still available here. Plenty of pace, elite skills and can find the ball. There's not many quality run and carry types left and so Bartlett shouldn't slide any further. He's got a good vertical leap and his agility often sees him picking the ball up around packs and streaming away on an impressive run. His injury is clearly a concern to all of his strengths but IMO he should be able to return OK. Essendon were happy to take the risk with Prismall, so they shouldn't be phased. Tapscott and Bastinac have the ability to play both inside/outside but Bartlett is a nice addition to the midfield as he gives them another pure classy outside type.

Said to be a versatile, rebounding defender who can help out in the ruck. Known for his speed and athletic ability.

I think the doggies are now well stocked with choice in defenders, but one who can help out in the ruck and has a bit of speed is worth the punt. It seems to me that most injuries are sustained by defenders through the year, so you can't have enough.

Happy to secure him at this pick, has been talked about as going to Geelong at 17 or possibly even earlier. Good contested ball winner with good defensive pressure who will fit in well at the Saints and could be their next (but better) Ball, Milne or Schneider.

He would have to grow another 6 or 8 cm if he is to be a viable option in the ruck.

I think we need another KPP defender to develop. After Lake & Williams it drops off sharply - Morris is too small to play on many KPP forwards, Boumann is a work in progress, Everitt isn't a KPP and Mulligan defines the term "project player".
I'd be happy with another potential CHB type.

I think the assessment for Reid is more in the (193cm) Everitt type stint at some ruck work.

Agree with this, we are also at risk if Lake ever has an injury.

After getting a couple of mids, a ruck and a forward, I adressed another list need by recruiting a backman, and there were none better available at this position than Dylan Grimes. At 192cm, Grimes has the versatility to play on both smalls and talls, plus he has enough speed and quickness to go with just about anybody. He makes good decisions, and his performance at draft camp, especially in the interviews, is said to have been seriously impressive. Plus, his brother is already at the club, which should make the settling in period a brief one for Dylan.
