Come to think of it, we don't have much to offer.

Perhaps a second round pick or Higgins. To be fair, though, I think Higgins showed some encouraging improvements and I would rather him stay given we have few goal kicking options.

Just don't want us paying through the nose.

Depends if the club thinks he's a once in a life time kind of player. He is a pretty special talent.

I dunno, I just don't think our 1st round pick and a solid player will out do GC's pick 2.

Unless we can get a third party involved you are right.

I know recent news has Minson as staying, but I suppose links could be made.

If Minson signs we can trade him if we don't he is a free agent and can walk to anyone he wants. He might want the dogs to get good compo if he does leave .

What advantage is it him to sign with us if we are intending to trade him?
It would be far better to keep a 3rd party out of it from his perspective.

He either signs with us or leaves us via free agency. It's very doubtful that he will sign with us on the proviso we will then trade him. He will owe us nothing if we are intending to shop him around.

Looking at last year's draft, GWS took:

Pick 4 and a first round compo pick to CG for Mini draft pick 1 (O'Meara) and pick 31

Pick 10 and a first round compo pick from Adelaide for Luke Brown and Mini pick 2 (Crouch)

I am not sure who still has compo picks banked but we'll be parting with at least a 1st rounder and another pick.

Good comparison - basically, it seems our pick 5 alone would not be enough to get a deal done.

Minson will stay he is number 1ruck now and if club is right on its building of great culture etc he would want to stay I would think

GWS wanted Wood.

I would be loathe to give up pick 5 because I hold hopes of getting Toumpas and we definitely wouldnt get him if we gave it to GWS.

But if this kid is a super gun, then pick 6 plus Wood? Just throwing it out there for discussion

probably our best bet is if GCS finishes 1st, because then they will just take whitfield and that will be that will be them out of the race for the mini pick.

Would Pick 5 and Grant generate any sort of interest, or has Grant lost too much currency over the past two years?
