    Mini Draft Explained
Looks like we negotiate for a place not a player

If GS or the Dees offer one of their first picks we're trumped for Martin.

GWS needs success quickly, so maybe offering a tradeable senior player like Lake (f he was willing to go) or Higgins may get us over the line?

    Is Martin really worth it?
The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.

Depends what player this 'shorter term perspective' brings us compared to how good Martin is/ could be.

I'm happy to wait if we believe Martin is going to be better than what we use to get him.

        Me too.

Adelaide did it with Dangerfield and then Crouch this year.

          - 2x 1st round pick
Looking at last year's draft, GWS took:

Pick 4 and a first round compo pick to CG for Mini draft pick 1 (O'Meara) and pick 31

Pick 10 and a first round compo pick from Adelaide for Luke Brown and Mini pick 2 (Crouch)

I am not sure who still has compo picks banked but we'll be parting with at least a 1st rounder and another pick.

You would think that at least one of the mini draft spots will go to one of GC, Melbourne or Bulldogs. We all have the earliest picks in the draft, and therefore will have the best position.

Is there anyone left who hasn't activated their picks for this year? I feel like it is only Gold Coast and GWS...

Pick 6 and Minson or Roughead perhaps?
              The curse is dead.

Pick 6 & Minson would definitely get it done i reckon but don't think that will happen. I would be rapt to get a pick in the mini draft so I'll be interested to see how we play this hand.

I think Pick 6 and Roughead is about right.
GWS only have Giles, Brogan and young Phillips as ruckman so they need another one.

I'd be pretty angry if this occurred.

Roughead will be a very good player in a couple of seasons and will be better than all of Jones, Cordy and Campbell IMO.

Also, I know first hand that McCartney seriously rates Roughead so it'd never happen.

Yeah I don't think it will happen, but I can't think of anything else that would get it done besides both our first round picks.

                      GC are in prime position.

If that's the case, then is it worth it? I doubt it.

I'd offer a first round pick and a 'solid' player if we wanted this kid.

                        No point over-paying.

Depends if the club thinks he's a once in a life time kind of player. He is a pretty special talent.

I dunno, I just don't think our 1st round pick and a solid player will out do GC's pick 2.

This is from 3 years ago....or there abouts. (Jack Martin)

This name wont mean much to anyone here at the moment, but in three years, i hope it does.

He's a 15 year old indigenous teen who lives and plays football in my town, Geraldton (home of the GNFL, which has given birth to Paddy Ryder and Josh Kennedy previously).

He played in my brothers U/16s football team last year, i watched him kick 14 goals from the midfield in an amazing display.

Bit of a Pavlich type (dont quote me on that, just what some people who watch him a bit more than me have said), forward who can swing through midfield and defence and dominate equally.

This weekend he made his league debut; kicked 6 goals against a fully grown defender.

Bookmark this thread because i think he's going to be a very good player. WC should look to hide him from the Vics and rookie list him
