I have seen many talented 17 year olds give up their sport as other factors come in to play like doing VCE, hanging around with mates after getting a license, legal drinking age etc and just wanting to have fun. I hope Martin is not in this category.
You would expect we'd do our due diligence in this regard - teams conduct psychometric testing of potential draftees.

Given we are only one of a number of teams chasing Martin I dare say he's worth considering.

Well if we did GWS would have to give something good in return. For example I think Martin and Jed Anderson for picks 5 & 6 is fair. Maybe picks 5 & 6 for Martin and GWS 1st round compo pick (around pick 20).
Thanks Bulldogsman, what type of player is Jed Anderson?
More of an In Bruges guy?

Happy to have him, but I don't want to take the risk and give up both picks. As Bulldogsman said , if there is something else thrown in, then that's good.

Inside/outside midfielder, but can play as small forward or defender. Attacks the contest hard, has good evasive skills, uses the ball well and is creative. Won the MVP award for Northern Territory this year.

Collingwood traded for Yagmoor last year, a GC zone selection, so it can be done.

I hope it's something we consider doing.
He looks a quality player, quick agile, ball magnet and loves a tackle.

Jake Neade might of been the player you were referring to in regards to GWS zone. (number 21 for NT).

Nope, Anderson is definitely a zone selection.

Anderson is zoned to GWS and played some TAC Cup footy with the Giants before he succumbed to the urge to return home to Darwin. He feels he's in a much better position to return to the Giants now, but that decision is yet to be made.

Re: Dogs Keen on Jack Martin in Mini Draft

In the paper today there is a deal proposed that would send Dom Tyson from GWS to Richmond for pick 9. The Bulldogs would then use both picks 5 and 6 to get Martin but also receive pick 9.

It looks like we are prepared to go as hard as we can to get Jack Martin.

That would be a good result. Only issue is we get mini draft pick 2, the club who gets one may select Martin!

The actual order will be known before the deal gets done

I'm lukewarm on that proposal. At least we'll still have a top 10 pick I guess. Still we're dropping significantly and giving up a lot. Martin would want to be very good for this price.

I agree G-Mo. Look he definitely looked sharp through the U18 Chanpionships with his pace and ability to break lines. Given the price we need to pay, the go-home risk coupled with my memory taking me to thoughts of Richard Tambling does concern me.
