That's my point. GC have been in raptures with Martin but nobody in the media knew to what extent, whereas they all knew our intentions.

I guess the other point is that if we really wanted Martin we would have offered up something that got GWS thinking - ie: pick 5 and a very good player that GWS would want - knowing that pick 5 on it's own wasn't going to cut it. Or 5 and 6 packaged together as others have mentioned (with a sweetener thrown back our way). Might have forced GC to part with pick 2 and a required player to get the deal done.

    All academic in any event.

Those picks would simply become GWS's picks - we are still pick 5 and 6.

No it won't because GWS still use the picks.

This just seems like such a premature assessment for mine.

I am confident we have a plan B. Picks 3-8 can be a mixed bag.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I would have thought that picks 5 + 6 are worth a lot more than pick 2. I still like the look of Jed Anderson and hope we can at least secure him.

If we are required to give up 5 & 6. Would people be happy with Hogan / Pick 9? (From richmond in relation to Tyson)

Would Hogan be worth pick 5 straigth swap?
No way for mine. Very disappointed but I'm also very happy to take 2 very good players with 5 and 6. It's mean't to be an extremely good draft anyway for the early picks so lets use that ability to continue the rebuild. A third rounder for Hunter is a solid win at least. Melbourne have done unbelievably well and GC have shafted us but we are still in a great position with three picks in the top 30. We'll very likely have early picks in the next couple of years as well so lets just make every pick count...

Really really disappointed ... This is the definition of a disaster. Not only do we miss out on Martin, not only do GC get another top talent, but Melb strike gold with Viney. It's ridiculous they get to take him at 26.

My thoughts exactly. I am incredibly dissapointed and really pissed off. Especially since Melbourne get a free top 3 pick.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Boy that win over North really cost us big time.

Melbourne have also announced they would have given up pick 3 for Viney. Take that with a grain of salt however, you would say that regardless as it creates a positive story for the clubs supporters .

It's just sickening watching all the top talent filtered straight into the new franchise teams.
I mean just those first 2 drafts were bad enough, but now swapping the mini draft picks between each other is just sickening.

Not sure who is bagging the club ?
The general discusion as been whether the club had played its cards to early or not.
I am of the opinion the club made a gallant effort in trying to secure Martin without him costing us the farm.
