Re: 2012 Trade rumours and discussion
They've also picked up Spangher. And lost Young as a FA. Both of those you can count as negatives.Interesting. So the net result is that Hawks have basically swapped Gilham for Lake (slight downgrade of picks in the 20's notwithstanding) and effectively get Anderson for that low 40's pick they traded to us as part of the Lake deal. All reports here have suggested Anderson is worth far more than that, and probably would have been gone well before the pick 22 in any event had Hawthorn kept it in the first place.
The value in not showing your hand too early in the trade period.Comment

Re: 2012 Trade rumours and discussion
Nothing they could do about losing Young as a FA. Anyway they have Bradley Hill waiting in the wings and now Anderson added to their running stocks - Young's best is past him and he has been injury-prone his entire career.
You clearly rate Spangher less than I do. He was good enough to be a starting 18 player for most of the 2nd half of Sydney's 2011 season and had his 2012 completely wrecked by injury. Hawks getting him for a 6 spot downgrade in the 60's is basically a freebie and he'll be very handy to have on the list of there's any injuries to KP's either forward or back."Look at me mate. Re: 2012 Trade rumours and discussion
I don't think we've been disappointing. I really believe Stevens is a good get at #44, don't know enough about Young to rate. The Lake deal sours me especially now that the Hawks have used our present to further better them.
I am disappointed that Sherman and/or Vez couldn't be dealt. OK I don't like Sherman but it means that a spot on our list is taken so either someone else has to be cut or a rookie/s can't be elevated next year. We've still got an hour to go but it looks like they'll be here next year.Comment

Re: 2012 Trade rumours and discussion
I'm no less soured by this trade now than I was when it happened 3 weeks ago. There was absolutely no reason to needlessly rush in and finalise that deal so quickly. Hawthorn would have been sweating bullets today and had their trade plans thrown into chaos had we held our ground on Lake."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Maybe I should have said it rubbed salt into the wound.Comment

Re: 2012 Trade rumours and discussion
Interesting that West Coke used the pick 44 from the Kobe Stevens trade as part of the Cripps trade. They clearly needed that pick 44 and we were certainly very helpful in giving it to them with minimal fuss. What nice, considerate chaps we are."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Re: 2012 Trade rumours and discussion
'Clearly needed that pick' for a trade that went through with 90 seconds left in the trade period? I would be surprised if they knew that's what they were going to use it for.
I don't understand the fuss over 7 spots...Comment

Going overboard aren't we?
Cripps like Stevens is unproven at the level.
I'd be dirty if I'd followed Stkilda, as they've wasted 2 weeks on Brown and received donuts in return. They also now don't have the draft position to obtain a young key back!!Comment
